The Space: This cozy 892-square-foot (83-square-meter) condo offers an open-concept living room, kitchen, and dining area. The bright and well-lit living room has a comfortable linen couch, a hanging wicker chair, and wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows that offer beautiful ocean and mountain views.
The modern kitchen is decorated with blue-and-white patterned tilework that is stylishly incorporated throughout the entire living and dining space, as well as vibrant teal cabinets and contemporary white appliances, including a refrigerator, microwave, oven, stovetop, and dishwasher. The kitchen provides open wooden shelving for storage, white stone countertops for food preparation, and an island that seats two. In addition, the dining area has a small round table with two teal chairs and a built-in dining bench.
Upstairs, the bedroom is furnished with a plush king-sized bed, a flat-screen TV, a closet, and a balcony with a small table, chairs, and a hammock that overlooks the charming cobblestone streets and beach club of Las Catalinas. The ensuite bathroom offers a double-sink vanity with stylish gold mirrors and fixtures, high-end marble countertops, wood cabinets, and a walk-in shower. The unit also comes with a washer and dryer, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning. Housecleaning is available upon request.
One of the most desirable perks of staying at Cartagena 12C is exclusive access to the Las Catalinas Beach Club for $30 per person daily (7 AM to 8 PM). The Neighborhood: Playa Potrero Offering easy access to three beaches (Potrero, Penca and Prieta), this town combines upscale lodging options with the charm of a traditional Costa Rican town (think central plaza with church, school and soccer field). There are plenty of restaurants, shops and other conveniences, and the downtown area has two mini supers (convenience stores), as well as a commercial plaza with a coffee shop, a hairdresser and other businesses. Some of the liveliest nightlife in the region can be found at Las Brisas Bar, right on the beach, though it’s normally hopping only on Wednesdays (Ladies’ Night). Potrero has several nice housing developments with “Villagio” in the name, popular among Italians and other expats. You can find Italian gelato shops, Costa Rican sodas (small, affordable restaurants) and hotels in a range of prices (Pitaya Lodge, Bahía La Esmeralda, Hotel Isolina, Bahía del Sol). Just to the south of Potrero lie all the attractions of Surfside, and to the north is a beautiful, hilly drive along the ocean, ending at the Mediterranean-style village of Las Catalinas.
