It was unique. A stunningly beautiful traditional house furnished with priceless antiques, the garden a tropical paradise. Our every need had been anticipated and provided for. Each day was a new discovery. Every member of staff was welcoming, smiling and charming, and they all spoke English. There was nothing to dislike. Highly recommended. A very special place.

Liked everything. All as expected. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be a benefit. The bed was quite creaky which woke us up every time one of us moved!

A lovely hotel with beautiful touches. The situation is great with good access to local services and some nice walks. The service would have been improved if the staff had reset tables at breakfast when other guests left. The level of detail to cleaning was not as I would expect of this standard of hotel. The domestic water supply was only warm, not hot, at any time, day or night. We unfortunately could not try the, reportedly, excellent food in the restaurant because it was fully booked with no room for residents.

Luxury Hacienda
Brilliant hotel! Tasteful throughout. Interesting antiques and artefacts combine with tasteful luxury, modern amenities, beautiful gardens and discreet but friendly service. Perfect. We enjoyed the Bath House and pool area. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Only thing we missed was tea and coffee making facilities in the room - but maybe that's a peculiar British thing?

A hidden Paradise
As soon as you entered this hotel you knew you were somewhere special.From start to finish this hotel was fantastic.Complete relaxation,sublime food and excellent friendly staff. Paulo who is the restaurant manageress was very professional and ran a very tight ship and therefore made the experience all the more enjoyable. From general manager to the maids cleaning the rooms, they could not do more for you.. The jacuzzi in the Bath House and the sauna plus treatments were great; just the trick for complete relaxation.

Pleasant hotel but not best located
Excellent food and service, but our 'superior' room was not big and had no outlook other than onto dense vegetation. Tazacorte is on the west side of the island where the weather is generally better. But it is not one of the loveliest parts of the island and the environs of the hotel are dominated by unrelieved banana plantations.

The Hotel was very welcoming, a delightful old building stocked with antique furniture and artwork. Unfortunately there was no comfortable seat in the bedroom, and the breakfast space was cramped and rather uncomfortable. It could do with re-opening a roped-off parking area - without this it was rather haphazard on adjacent roads.The garden and pool area were delightful. The staff were uniformly helpful, pleasant and multilingual. The hotel, being an old Hacienda, was surrounded by 8-foot high walls, so no external view from the ground floor, including the small outside breakfast area. For the comfort level and facilities provided at this hotel, it was too expensive.

A great place to stay on west coast of La Palma
Warm welcome, unhurried and personal attention when checking in. Restaurant, bar and reception staff are professional and enthusiastic. Requests for help were immediately answered. The rooms and public spaces are delightful and spotless. Semi tropical gardens are beautifully maintained and weave the original and restored buildings together. The secure car park available to rent was very helpful. Hacienda de Abajo is a unique oasis in charming the town of Tazacorte.

Beautiful hotel, in wonderful surroundings
The hotel has old world charm in its decor and is full of character, with spacious air conditoned rooms full of antique furniture, the whole idea is to give you that Hacienda experience. The gardens are beautifully laid out and the pool is secluded and relaxing with the addtion of a hot tub and sauna, should you want to indulge. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Dinner is well prepared and presented, however the menu is a little quirky, with at the time of my visit, not a lot of traditonal cusine. Breakfast is buffet style, again plentiful, with one or two hot items a little strange for breakfast menu. A small issue was the air conditioning in the room which was very poor, mainly because the unit had not been cleaned and I suspect not been serviced in some time. Overall a very nice hotel and I would certainly go back and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and location Recommended rooms for me would 14,15 or 16, the rooms in the grounds look to be a little dark, however I guess they will also be cool in the summer heat because of this.

Lovely old fashioned hotel set in gardens
Lovely gentile hotel with attentive staff - beautiful gardens all beautifully kept. Pool area was quiet, calm and clean. Noisy old bed - the slightest movement and the whole thing creaked! Nice buffet breakfast in the courtyard. Would highly recommend for a few nights stay. Didn't eat in the restaurant as we felt other (better) options in the town.

Simply one of the best hotel experiences ever!
We highly recommend this fabulous hotel. It is beautifully designed throughout with lovely antique furniture and paintings - to give you an idea how attractive it even does tours for the cruise ships as part of a heritage package (they only came once in the week and did not disturb at all). Being adult only means it is so peaceful and it's location, essentially surrounded by banana plantations, means you get no noise disturbance at all. But it is not isolated, you are 2 minutes walk into Tazacorte (officially the town with the most sun in Europe we understand!) and then 10-15 min walk downhill into the marina, beach front and seaside restaurants. The food in the hotel restaurant is fabulous and the best you will get in the area, or you can just take tapas for a lighter bite with great breakfasts too. And the staff are incredible with nothing being too much trouble, they really complete an all round fabulous experience!

What a little treasure this is. Wonderful staff. Incredibly peaceful. Fantastic location. Beautiful gardens and pool. Build in some budget for taxis if you're not hiring a car as everything takes quite a while to get to due to the mountainous nature of the island. It is a volcano after all!! A taxi from the airport to the hotel is approximately €45. Whilst the restaurant in the hotel is beautiful and the food is good, we felt the kitchen was trying a little too hard with some dishes a little complex and perhaps mid-judged. It's also quite a formal experience. Worth a try though as it's no doubt the best food in the local area. If returning to La Palma we would stay here again. So definitely recommended.

Lovely old hacienda set in a banana plantation. Clean rooms furnished with antiques, with balcony/patio overlooking wonderful gardens with plants from all over the world. Small hotel (32 rooms),attentive service. Of course, all this costs- hence only stayed a few nights, but a good experience. Dislikes: small pool, space for 15 sunbeds only, slow service at mealtimes, and the smoke from the biomass heating system.

Beautiful hotel delights the senses. Very peaceful as no children allowed - the antiques are too precious! They have built a reproduction catholic chapel and are trying to get it sanctified for weddings. Only 30 bedrooms feels private and exclusive. Oh - the pool was freezing!

Quite Magical.
Such a special place to stay. A truly unique experience staying in something of a film set. The staff are just perfect with service to match and they appear genuinely happy to be there. The food is excellent, verging on Michelin star quality. Shame the bedroom and patio wasn't a little bigger with more space for sitting and relaxing but this did not detract too much from a delightful experience.

Einzigartig die Unterkunft in Musealer Umgebung, hervorragende Küche, sehr freundliches Personal. Kleine Kritik:die musealen Betten beeinflussen den Schlaf durch nicht mehr bekannte Geräusche und die Fenster sollten auch mit traditioneller Technik zu öffnen sein. Diese Kleinigkeiten beeinflussen das Gesamtergebnis aber nicht: absolut zu empfehlen!

Verschimmelte Zimmer mit extremen Modergeruch
Das Zimmer war verschimmelt. Der Schimmel ist eine Zumutung. Es handelt sich hier um ein 4 Stern Haus und bei einem Zimmerpreis von über € 200,- erwartet man das nicht. Es gibt Klimaanlagen welche auch trocknen. Hier hat nicht einmal der Lüfter im Bad funktioniert. Kein wunder, dass sich hier Schimmel bildet. Die Servicemitarbeiter waren freundlich und haben uns erklärt, dass das an der Luftfeuchtigkeit liegt. Dann wären alle Zimmer in Asien verschimmelt. Wir reisen 100 Tage im Jahr und so modernde Zimmer haben wir normal nie.

Très beau boutique hôtel.
Très bel établissement type boutique hôtel. Un jardin magnifique et une décoration traditionnelle d'époque formidable. Le service est attentif et souriant. Tout est parfait ! Je conseille la visite du musée de la banane juste à côté.

Agréable séjour, sérénité au rendez vous
Hôtel de charme très agréable. De très belles pièces d'art décorent cet établissement, y compris dans les chambres. Le jardin est un havre de paix verdoyant. Personnel agréable. Les lits un peu en hauteur sont surprenants, mais cela ne nous a pas incommodé.

En dyr men fin pärla!
Underbart spahotell i en fantastisk trädgård. Tycker man om gammal stil så är detta stället man ska bo på. Någon har verkligen tänkt till, och allt är genomtänkt i minsta detalj. Bara att gratulera. Bra och trevlig reception, dock tycker vi att restaurangen och frukostmatsalen inte håller fullt lika hög klass.

Sehr schönes Hotel, historisch und doch gemütlich
Ein kleiner Kurzurlaub zur Teilnahme am Transvulcania. Dieses Hotel ist einfach wunderschön, sehr gemütlich und bietet aufmerksamen, individuellen Service. Das Frühstück ist gut sortiert und lecker. Der Pool inmitten des sehr schönen Gartens ist sehr schön.

Zwischen Bananenstauden
Über das Hotel wurde schon viel gesagt und kann hier nur bestätigt werden. Man lebt hier auf der Hacienda im historischen, antiquarische Rahmen, ohne auf die Annehmlichkeiten der modernen Zeiten (Ausstattung der Zimmer, WLAN im ganzen Haus) verzichten zu müssen. Man kann hier seine Tage geruhsam am Schwimmbad verbringen oder als Ausgangspunkt für die eine oder andere Exkursion zum Erkunden der Insel mit dem Auto, dem Fahrrad oder einfach nur wandernder Weise durch den Nationalpark auf die Spitzen der Vulkangipfel nutzen. Das Hotel hat ein sehr schönes Ambiente und läßt keine Wünsche für einen erholsamen Urlaub offen.

Hôtel où chaque objet est une œuvre d'art
Ancienne hacienda dans un champ de bananes et en bordure d'un très joli quartier de Tazacorte, remplie de tableaux des VIIe, VIIIe siècles ainsi que d'antiquités européennes et asiatiques, reconvertie en hôtel avec tout le luxe attendu. Attention les lits sont très hauts et notre chambre double avait 2 lits simples assez larges mis un à côté de l'autre. Très beau jardin avec plantes à profusion, belle piscine. Excellent petit déjeuner.

Museales Hotel
Liegt inmitten einer Bananen-Plantage. Zentrum Tazacarte ca. 5 Minuten zu Fuß. Großzügige, Zimmer sehr geräumig. Museal, aber nicht kitschig. Kritik: Sauna, dunkel und nicht heiß.

Luxuriöses, farbenfrohes Hotel mitten in Plantagen
Absoluter Luxus - das Einzige, was uns fehlte, war der Wasserkessel,im Zimmer und eine ´loungy bar´. Die Ausstattung ist wundervoll - ein herrlicher, subtropischer Garten, fabelhafte Massage, supernetter und hochkompetenter Service... der Ort für die Flucht vom Winter,

Très bel hôtel, situé au calme
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans ce petit hôtel convivial. La chambre avec vue sur la bananeraie voisine est très belle et le calme invité à s'y reposer. Le buffet du petit déjeuner est très bien et l'ambiance très agréable. Si nous retournons à la Palma, nous reviendrons !!
