Some areas that could improve is the lack of bedding, towels, the current bedding doesn’t fit the beds. We specifically wanted it because we felt it would accommodate our family of five (which includes three young adults). The rate is overpriced in my opinion. We stayed at two other places during our Key West/Palm Beach vacation, both comparably priced to this (one being a similar size to the Manatee) and the other two were much nicer. The houseboat definitely needs some TLC. Unfortunately, the a/c was out during our stay. Mike did offer to let us stay in another houseboat because of this. However, the alternative was very small, and I didn't want us climbing all over each other. So, we chose to stay in the Manatee with no a/c. It made for a very damp and sticky stay. Maybe because it is an older boat, there was a very strong "old house" musty smell. Overall, we will probably not return. Mike, though, was very nice to work with and did refund us a small amount due to the a/c not working. ##### Jeff Séjour de 3 nuits en décembre 2023 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Teresa T. 2 janv. 2024 Points forts : Propreté #### Manageable issues, but definitely some concerns The good: The houseboat could easily sleep 8; it feels quite spacious. The top deck was great as well. The beds and pillows were comfortable. There were also plenty of towels. It also seemed clean. Finally, there is also a new bar on site, for interested parties, but we never had noise pollution from it. The bad: The fridge can only be a fridge or freezer; you’ll want to plan accordingly. The hot water runs out very quickly (3 minutes?). Though they offer other showers onsite, most were not usable (e.g., one was locked, one had pee in it, the final one wouldn’t turn on). The ugly: When we checked in, the manager told us that the AC was broken on our boat. He said he couldn’t offer anything else that night, nor were we offered a hotel voucher or discount for the lack of AC, but he said we could look at another, smaller one the next night. They did leave 3 fans. He said he didn’t have our number, which is why there wasn’t forewarning. He was not apologetic, and instead, positioned it as our fault. Additionally, after checking in and being given the keys, we attempted to lock the boat, and realized the lock was broken. We brought it to the manager’s attention. Again, no apology, just sarcasm about how to lock a door. The manager did have a worker look at the lock the next day, and the result was the same: They said it can’t be fixed, so you’ll have to just deal with it. Finally, there was mold behind the kitchen trashcan on the wood framing. VERY dismissive manager. ##### Teresa T. There are many restaurants and shops very close to the marina . Staying on a house boat was on my bucket list and so now I can say we did that and it was a great experience . Tavernier is a great location - close to parks, beaches, restaurants, shopping. And so great to come back and relax on the deck surrounded by water and fresh breezes! The marina has a pool which was nice when we just felt like a quick dip. We had a manatee slowly swim by one day! In general, a clean friendly place to call home while you explore the Keys. Just one caveat- if you have motion sickness - the houseboat does move quite a lot when it gets really windy. Mike was extremely helpful and always willing to talk (Including Ace!). A real review. Our boat could use some TLC. Overall it was great, but starting to show usage...I'm not picky. I have stayed at many locations like this and kind of expected there would be some basics...spices, coffee filters...usually there are a few things helpful that are left over from previous travelers...there were none in this case. We left a lot of basics and hopefully they remain for the next group. Otherwise we liked the stay and look forward to next year. ##### Mark J. Mike was amazing- knowledgeable about area, check in process short & sweet. Plenty of parking. There is a covered front & back deck to enjoy. Some shade on the upper deck would be great to enjoy the views for longer periods of time. This sounds like something that is being looked into.l already. Only Small downside was the king size bed. It is up stairs & only one way out, had to crawl over my hubby at night to get out. ( there are 3 other beds I could have slept in🙃) Restaurants close by. Great little bar area that served wine/beer/seltzers. Mandy was the island women running it. She’s amazing !!! Great pool area with shade. Overall a fabulous stay. Would recommend to anyone. ##### steve r. The Marina probably needs some TLC re: Paint work, plaster etc but overall , we have no regrets. The only problem, and it was a problem, is that the Bilge pumps activated every 3-4 minutes throughout the night. This was reported but of course it was during the holidays so little could be done to resolve it. The middle bunk was right beside the noisiest bilge pump and without a stiff drink and deep set ear plugs, sleep was impossible. Clearly the boat draws Water on the port side when everyone is in bed and it is unfortunate that beds are all on the same side of the boat. When we left it seemed that Michael, who was excellent, was going to get the problem attended to. It may not be a quick fix. ##### stephen g. We can now check that off our bucket list. The roof top deck and lower decks were excellent to get sun or shade. Their was plenty of parking. A/C worked well. If we had a negative- there was only 2 forks in the kitchen drawer. We had a great time. ##### Rick R.
