The original house (now bedroom #2) was once the home of a family of 9-kitchen and bath then were outdoors. It is thought to be 250+ years old and is considered an historical property. Like many Taos homes it was added to in the ensuing years. This home is delightful for a couple. It is a spacious home which is unusual for an old adobe. The layout is perfect for a couple and would be especially comfortable for two couples since the two good sized bedrooms each have full, private baths and are separated by the sunroom and great room. There is a queen sofa sleeper in the sunroom and in the great room is another queen sofa sleeper. Both have new gel foam mattresses Both have all bedding. Cost for these sofa sleepers is $25 per guest per night which can be left at departure or added at time of booking. The house is cozy in the winter due to thick adobe walls, two operable kiva fireplaces and very efficient gas heaters in great room and each of the two bedrooms.. There is always a good supply of firewood under the carport. Summer is delightful and cool inside with screened operable windows and ceiling fans. There is a tabletop fan in 2nd bedroom. No ceiling fan here with low ceiling (6’). Great for outdoor living with a covered deck off master bedroom and a wonderful front flagstone patio/ covered portal with table and chairs, BBQ and outdoor fireplace with firewood provided. The house is furnished with interesting antiques. sculpture and original art. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to produce those gourmet feasts or a quick snack for two. Bathroom #2 has a washer and dryer for those chores that call out even on vacation. The yard is fenced and well behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional fee. ($10 per night per dog. which you may leave at the home."Mutt Mitts" are located in a decorative box outside and "Dog Sheets" provided inside for sofas and beds. I offer a generous 50% discount for stays over 30 days and a set fee for 30day plus pets This home was featured on this summers Taos Home & Garden Tour in August for 500+ tour goers. This is my fourth home to be featured on a Tour! Too much fun and such a great compliment to my style! We just finished re doing both baths with tile and new tubs and great tilework around all kiva fireplaces as well as new flagstone hearths and bancos (benches). If my calendar shows this home as booked please look at Vrbo 273116 or Vrbo 860840\. These are two and three bedroom homes that I also own in Taos. The house has a wonderful, peaceful feeling and yet is only a few minutes from all Taos has to offer..good restaurants, shops, galleries, the Taos Pueblo and many great outdoor activities). We felt like we were in a different country when staying there because of its age, style and quirks. There are a lot of things to love about the house, it's comfortable, has a beautiful and private outdoor space and is in an older neighborhood. The reasons I knocked one star off my review are that there was something, sugar or salt maybe, all over the kitchen floor and it crunched every time you took a step. There isn't a dishwasher, which is fine, but the sponge by the sink looked like it had cleaned who knows what and it was what the previous guest had used to "wash" the dishes. We had to rewash everything we wanted to use with dish soap and paper towels. I would highly advise the manager to splurge and give each guest a new sponge for the dishes. There was also mouse poop in one of the pots. The only other issue was two of the neighbors. I realize there isn't much the home owner or manager can do about it but one of the neighbors kept driving around with their music so loud that it actually made the windows rattle. Not the home's fault but it happened quite a few times and woke us up. That said, would I recommend the place for anyone who wants to experience the "real"New Mexico? Absolutely! ##### Robert T. I rented this “VRBO” (turns out it is not licensed for rental per Taos City Ordinance) for my girlfriends and I to stay in for our girls trip June 18-23, 2025 and to celebrate my husband, who passed away in February 2024\. It looked great on the VRBO Site, and the description turned out not to be accurate. The “HOST”, says there are 2 Swamp Coolers available to use (being from Texas, we know how to use them), and only found one, so I let her know and she responded that since she put a ceiling fan in the 1st bedroom ( the blades hit the rafters making a horrible racket, so basically useless), we didn’t need a 2nd one. She said just open the doors and windows for air- the screens had holes in them and there was no screen door on the main entrance door. Listen- you are in the middle of nowhere, neighborhood is sketchy and 3 women alone- no way we’re going to leave those open! The electricity was mediocre at best- took literally 2 hours to make a pot of coffee and after leaving phones and tablets to charge overnight, they only charged to 60%!!! The yard was overgrown, we could see the trailer out the windows, electrical sockets were missing covers, I could go on!!! After spending 1 night (booked for 5), we contacted “THE HOST”, AGAIN, explained that this was not what was in the description, nor did she offer to bring another Swamp Cooler, and that we wanted to cancel the rest of the reservation. “THE HOST” said she would refund me for the other 4 nights - no refund! Such an enchanting home and space. The trees and surroundings provide a peaceful oasis that's filled with the sounds of birds, frogs and coyotes, and incredible mountain views. This CHARMING TAOS ADOBE HOME is historic, funky, well decorated and has everything you need for a great Taos experience. Don't expect the latest in upgrades as this home embodies the spirit and ambiance of 100 to 250 years ago in the Taos Valley. You can imagine the Spanish and European settlers living out their life in this beautiful setting. The bedrooms are comfortable, the bathrooms and laundry are efficient and workable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook and serve family meals. The furnishings are eclectic and fun. The outside fireplace is mesmerizing and the mountain views are spectacular. The location is central to all the sights and sounds of Taos and the Rio Grande Valley. If you are looking for a truly mystical Taos experience this is it. Highly recommended! ##### Chris C. However, for one of us who is 81, the uneven floors and step down area from the bedroom were a worry for falling creating some tension to the stay.
