Affordable

Posted 25-Jun-2016
Pros: Breakfast, facilities, staff.
Cons: landscaping, ease of getting to the hotel, airconditioning/fan
Location: It's Taos, there is tons to do. Shopping, rafting, hiking, museums, skiing, anything you can think of in a small mountain town.
Wonderful Experience! They were so nice and catered to our stay quite well. Left a comment card for improvements for the new owners. Even for the faults it was great to support the local community and not stay at a chain hotel.

Hi Brian, Thank you for sharing about your experience while staying at Blue Sky Retreat. We're glad you enjoyed your breakfast, our facilities and our staff. We expect excellence so your suggestions are already in the works! Since the new ownership in December 2015 we've been learning the land. Each season brings new opportunities to see how and where our native plants grow. We make daily improvements to our 2.5 acre property and have a vision of finding balance between natural xeriscape and pristine, manicured landscaping. We are working with navigation companies to ensure consistent, reliable directions to our front door. We have a limited number of rooms with AC, and each room has an oscillating fan. Thank you again for your support and for taking time to share your feedback. We can't wait to see you again!

Exquisite accommodation

Should have booked this location for our wedding instead of El Monte down the road. Quiet, quaint and affordable with home cooked meals. Locally run and owned. Hard to get ahold of on the phone though.

Hi Reed, It was wonderful having you and your wife stay with us. Thank you for taking the time to share about your experience and thank you for offering suggestions. Feedback from guests is invaluable, as it helps us see many points of view. Our goal is growth and feedback starts things in motion. We've already updated our breakfast menu to include cold cereal offerings and are making daily improvements to our landscaping. Phone calls will always be returned if a message is left and when we are hosting retreats or events, email is the quickest communication. I've updated our voicemail to reflect this. Thanks again for your support. We can't wait to see you again...for each anniversary!

Our stay at the Blue Sky Retreat at San Geronimo was magical. The staff was very conscientious and attentive. The breakfast was terrific! The grounds needed a little work but were delightful. We walked the labyrinth and the enchanting path around the grounds. The architecture was wonderful. We could feel the intent and vision of the original owners. The rooms are delightful and the beds very comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. The season was too early for the hot-pepper shaped pool to be open. This Inn was full of historical significance. We loved it and would definitely go again.

We stayed over Xmas eve...also my husband's birthday, and we were treated with complimentary wine. Great insider tips on the Taos history and pueblo dances

Interesting old structure.

Pros: LEAVING IT!! There was a very nice young man for Texas who was very helpful and friendly, not like the owner.
Cons: New ownership
Location: No signs for Witt road.
We made original reservations for 1 night in Sept.2015. I was unable to make the trip because of illness. We rescheduled for 2 nights in October,2015. They were to give us credit from the original reservation to use in October. When we checked out they charged us for 2 nights instead of one. The owner wasn't available at the time, she was too busy moving out. She did issue a credit after I contacted her by phone. That was the good part. She contacted me about 2 days before our reservation date and left a message asking if we were coming even though she had sent me a conformation. She said that my voice mail was the worst she ever heard and it was rude. and it sounded like I didn't want to be around anyone. She is right that I wouldn't want to be around her! I told her she needed to get a sense of humor. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk. After looking around and calling out, we did find our keys on the front desk. (Self help I guess.} The room was clean but very small. There wasn't a comfortablr chair to sit and read, no clock. The toilet made very loud noises when flushed and she said she didn't know what was wrong. The breakfast was OK but very small and not any choices. We had to search to find some one when we went to the dining room. She seemed put out havind to serve us. We were the only people staying there the first night. Overall our stay was not what we expected and aws overpriced. Even tho (The Wicked Witch is Dead} I would not stay again.

Charming Ranch Outside of Taos

Posted 15-Oct-2015
I drove my parents to New Mexico to celebrate their Anniversary and spend time with my 10 year old daughter. We all enjoyed exploring the ranch. My parents seemed to enjoy the quiet setting near the mountains. My daughter splashed in the pool and enjoyed reading a book in her small bed. The highlight for me was the time I spent walking the small labyrinth with my daughter and taking a walk along the Prayer Path. This place is unforgettable! Nothing fancy, just peaceful.

Hotel Close to Taos

Posted 15-Oct-2015
Pros: It was quiet
Cons: Ambiance, price, breakfast
I was disappointed with my stay. For the money spent per night, I would have expected a top notch establishment. The hotel is undergoing an ownership change and it could be felt. The old owner was packing, there were practically no guests, and there was no warm and fuzzy feeling.

No refund or credit for problem encountered

Posted 6-Oct-2015 on Hotels
Had plumbing problems. Did not have water for over 10 hours beginning around 8:00 PM. The next morning used 5 gal buckets to haul water from swimming pool to put in tolites so they would flush. Finally repaired the problem and was able to take a shower.
