This was our first time in Costa Rica and we wanted something that felt more local, not overly capitalized and whatnot. We thought the tiki hut restaurant/bar was very cute and gave us lots of ideas for our friends back home. The pool was nice, perfect temperature for a hot day. We ADORED the fact that the mango trees above the hotel were filled with monkeys and parrots during some of our stay. The wildlife was RIGHT there, we went on adventure tours only to find we mainly saw the wildlife at the hotel. It was nice and close to the beach and nice proximity to the restaurants, supermarket and cute touristy shops. The only real downsides were no fridge (not a big deal, we just didn't want to waste leftovers), the blinds didn't quite block out all the light from a streetlight outside our room, the bed was a bit hard and the view from our room out the back window wasn't superb and could use a little tidying. As expected there is the occasional bug - mainly a couple ants and mosquitoes (partially our fault for leaving the door cracked). The stay was lovely, the staff were super friendly, quick and polite. We greatly enjoyed our stay and all of the wildlife/resident life that was there.
