Shore Lodge is an old hotel that has been well maintained and it has a ton of rustic character. And a bunch of modern amenities that offer something for everybody.
My husband and I stayed for 2 days and enjoyed our beautiful stay on the lake. The location on the lake, great service, updated decor and many amenities make this a fabulous place to stay. We really enjoyed the game room which included table shuffleboard and a skeeball game. The only downside to the stay was the older couches, which were fine for me, but my husband found them uncomfortable for any length of time. The chairs in the room were stylish but uncomfortable for both of us.
Pleasant, would like to have had more time to enjoy all the amenities.

Disliked: Staff & service, room comfort
For what you pay to stay here it was terribly disappointing. The hospitality was weak, service poor and seemed that they make you pay for everything while providing limited comforts. Honestly we have stayed at many resort hotels and it just seemed like the SL didn’t try very hard to accommodate their guests... maybe just because they feel they don’t need to as there’s not much comparable competition in the area for lake access. I’d recommend that they train their management better and implement some basic service strategies.
the hotel was nicelly decorated, as were the rooms. However I had a 'garden room' ( no garden so not sure why that description) and it was very small, with no wardrobe, just coat hooks and no mirror in the bedroom, which would be awkward if 2people were trying to get ready.
We have stayed before and it's been family friendly, when we checked in this time the front desk person was very rude and made us feel unwelcome. After talking with the manager she has made it right for us and is taking care of the issue. The facility is beautiful and clean! Would recommend to everyone!

the online description is misleading.
Online they say they are pet friendly and have no further information. My husband and I took our dogs up there and only after checking in did they let us know about the fees and that they only allowed one dog per room.
Great place to get away and just relax. Our room overlooked the lake and although the lake was still mostly frozen it was still fantastic. Greeted at check in with a glass of wine - nice touch. Will definitely go back again.
The room was wonderful, the staff professional and friendly, the view breathtaking, and the food was delicious! Do yourself a favor and book a stay here!
I have stayed in gorgeous hotels around the world but my favorite is Shore Lodge in McCall, Idaho. My visit there in 2003 was the catalyst for a move back to Idaho. Then it was called Whitetail Lodge, but a couple of years ago, an Idaho native purchased it and restored the old name and ambience.
If you like 5 Star treatment, rustic surroundings and pristine mountain lakes, this is an experience you shouldn't miss.
Beautiful room, comfortable & quiet. Facility has a fine view of Payette Lake, & an excellent dining room. Hotel staff are friendly, courteous & helpful. McCall in season is a pleasant resort town; out of season, it is quiet & easy going, and the scenery is still gorgeous.
The only downer − while the quoted room rate was honored, there's an additional $12/day "resort fee" added to the bill, along with its associated taxes.
