We would recommend staying here for the experience of a Japanese inn and the fact that it is very authentic. We found the staff to be professional and polite. The drawback is the inn is located in an area quite a distance from the center of town and from all of the temples and shrines. If we were not a family of walkers it would have been a problem. We also reserved and had the dinners each evening which was a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience. Do not be afraid of "sleeping on the floor." It is very comfortable and we slept well! Lift has to be prior arranged get a number to call and need to arrive before 5pm. Shuttle into town is 10am. It’s a traditional hotel so futons and shoes off throughout. The futons were very uncomfortable and I could sleep. We also had staff walk into our room after we’d checked in and were getting changed which didn’t help with feeling relaxed. The squat toilet smelt like a urinal you had to use a toilet in the corridor to get a western style toilet. There were hairs on the bedding so it wasn’t really clean. We did use the couples onsen and this was appreciated.
