Points faibles : Service et personnel We spent 2 nights here and had a really nice stay. The house and the room are really clean and well furnished. There is an onsen in the bath. The food is delicious. The owners are really friendly. I recommend this place. The only thing is that the location is a bit far from the city center so it takes 30min walking to go there. Food was fantastic, trying the dinner a must! Shared bathrooms and toilets. Rooms essentially have paper walls... Very far away from the city. The room was really nice with authentic Japanese style. The outdoor bathroom was great with an excellent view over Takayama. The hotel is actually 20 minutes taxi away from the train station, not within walking distance from the train station. We went to the location on the map which is a private house. We were lucky that a nice Japanese lady came to our rescue and called the host for us. He came and picked us up. There is no restaurants within walking distance from the hotel; the host was nice enough to drop us off for dinner. We had to spend extra taxi fare returning from dinner and to the train station the next day, $10USD each way. I booked the hotel because it seems to be close to the train station and neighboring shops and restaurants based on Expedia map. Expedia should update their map. It is misleading. The hotel and host are nice.
