We had an amazing time at this hotel. We would return for sure. The outdoor onsen is beautiful and even thought there were other guests in the hotel, we were the only one using them, so it was quite relaxing. The staff members were so welcoming and friendly, the food was just impeccable. At breakfast time until we left, there was a pianist playing the piano. He was fabulous. If slaughtered/trapped dolphins and whales bother you, consider going elsewhere as you cannot avoid it here. There are pens of trapped wild-caught dolphins right out the window. I booked this hotel without doing enough research as a relaxing stay after hiking the Kumano Kodo and after minutes of driving into town, knew I had made a mistake. As a tender-hearted human who watched “The Cove” and “Whale Wars” I cannot believe I booked a hotel in the literal cove where thousands of wild dolphins are killed, sold, and hunted. It was my miss, so I thought I’d provide this so that you don’t make the same mistake. It looks as though other booking sites had these types of reviews, but Expedia did not. Otherwise, the view of the ocean and hills are beautiful, the staff are so kind and helpful, the breakfast is nice, and the outdoor onsen is peaceful. The rooms are OK, but could use some maintenance.
