We hebben genoten van ons verblijf van twee weken in Casa Gentile. Gastheer Markies Luca Pinelli Gentile verwelkomde ons allerhartelijkst en gedurende ons verblijf was Sarah, de host van deze zomer, altijd bereikbaar voor eventuele vragen (en het aanschaffen van wijn). Het appartement is charmant ingericht en bleef door de dikke muren heerlijk koel terwijl de temperatuur buiten behoorlijk opliep. Casa Gentile ligt direct aan de grote tuin die door alle appartementen gebruikt kan worden. Het is een enorme tuin met grote lindebomen, verschillende terrassen en een hangmat, in ieder geval ruimte genoeg. Tijdens ons verblijf werd deze tuin twee zaterdagen voor bruiloften gebruikt. De zaterdag van onze aankomst werd er vanaf 2200 uur een feest met disco gehouden, waarover de Markies ons vooraf had ingelicht hij bood ons een ander appartement aan of wilde een nacht elders onderkomen voor ons regelen. Dit hebben wij afgeslagen omdat we een Italiaans bruiloftsfeest wel overleven. Er werd flink gefeest, maar we hebben ons er niet aan gestoord (en een fles Spumante van het huis geleegd). De tweede zaterdag werd er een diner voor 180 personen in deze tuin gehouden. De opbouw begon al eerder, dus daar heb je mee te maken als gast als je gebruik maakt van de tuin. De avond zelf waren wij uit eten in Ovada en uiteindelijk hebben we het staartje van het diner gezien vanaf een klein terrasje achter in de tuin. Als je dit soort dingen niet wilt tegenkomen tijdens je vakantie, dan kun je beter een ander appartement huren. Wij hebben ons er niet aan gestoord. Wat heel leuk is, is dat de Markies met het bruidspaar regelt dat gasten van de appartementen zich aan mogen sluiten bij de aperitivo van de bruiloft. Heel bijzonder om op die manier toch iets van een Italiaanse bruiloft op een kasteel mee te pikken. Al met al hadden wij twee het gevoel dat we op het kasteel woonden en erbij hoorden. Fantastisch gastheer- en gastvrouwschap door Luca en Sarah. Rondleiding en wijnproeverij door de Markies is, zoals eerdere recensies aangeven, een heel leuke ervaring. Prachtig kasteel en heerlijke wijnen, waarvan enkele dozen nu in Nederland staan!
