We loved this hotel! It was the bright spot in our trip. Our view was amazing and the staff was super helpful. We has many options for food all within walking distance. Our conference was about 20 minutes away and it was very easy to pop into the highway from here. The breakfast is good and well maintained. The parking spots are tiny so be aware of that. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for business
I was on business travel for a week. Hotel was directly on water with direct access to paved walking paths along the Pugit Sound. Great if your traveling for business and want to stay active! Close to a great brew pub (The Ram) and other restaurants that appeared nice and busy. Only downside is it is far from many tourist hot spots. The other time I stayed out here was for business, I worked in Tacoma and stayed in Seattle (Pike Market) - commuting was a lot nicer this time around.

Best hotel ive stayed in tacoma so far..loved the water view, the complimentary breakfast was delicious..the staff were courteous and very friendly! I had a terrible new years and a little bit of a hard time booking for my stay but they went out of their way to accommodate me the best way possible and i truly appreciate everyone and everything the staff did for me!! Thanks SILVER CLOUD INN!!

We stayed here again, for a holiday family visit. The location is convenient and scenic. Staff was friendly and the room comfortable. Wifi was more reliable this time, though logging in repeatedly over 24 hours was a little annoying -as was the bizarre aspect ratio setting on the room's flat-screen television. HVAC was very noisy.

Silver Cloud Inn in Tacoma is consistently clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The location on the water right near Old Town could not be better. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The "extras" that make the hotel unique are the laundry room, early evening get together and the shuttle service to close by locations . This is my first choice for accommodations in the area.

Loved the hotel but our room was 302 and there was only one elevator and it was at the other end of hotel. Had to walk from lobby -1st floor all way to end of hotel and our room above lobby 3rd floor. We were there for our wedding night and we found love later in life our ages were 66 and 79. Probably should have asked for room by elevator - but did not know one elevator. We walked up and down stairs. Trains all night going and blowing.- we were so close to street. One good thing breakfast was adequate. Tide came up later so we did have water view late. Pretty view also .

I hate to complain about something that seems so small but trying to navigate my car in between two concrete posts was hectic and stress inducing. Everything else was lovely.

My only issue was the parking. They have this weird structure that makes it so that when you pull into the two car stall, you are millimeters from the concrete posts. It was just uncomfortable. Not so much as to not stay there, but weird.

I love it there. Wish it served drinks in the nice room downstairs ... But you can bring your own bottle of wine and enjoy it, at least. Prettiest place to stay if you have to be in Tacoma.

Great local getaway
We live nearby and have past this inn many times on our way to the many waterfront restaurants nearby. We were finally able to get a quick night away and the choice was obvious. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness ( we have seen all the Hotel Impossilbles). Our room had a great view and the fireplace set a romantic atmosphere. There are several great waterfront eateries for every taste very nearby. Watched a great sunset and enjoyed a great romantic evening. Breakfast was moderate--90% pastries.

Nice weekend at Silver Cloud Tacoma Waterfront
We spent three nights at the Silver Cloud on the Tacoma Waterfront when we came into town last weekend for a family funeral. This is a lovely location on Tacoma's waterfront, with restaurants within walking distance. We had a "Waterview King" room, with a lovely view out to Tacoma's harbor. The train tracks across the street are well used, but they were only heard softly from our room location. The breakfast was provided in a classy dining area with views of the water, and included eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, cereal, etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will plan to stay here again in the future.

When we visit Tacoma we always stay here. It is over the water, close to some very good restaurants that are within walking distance from the Inn, and easy to find with a Garmin or similar direction device.

Pleasant waterfront stay
Silver Cloud Inn in Tacoma was a pleasant surprise and exceeded our expectations. Room was kept exceptionally clean, staff was very friendly and courteous, only minus was the lack of a pool, (my 6 yr old didn't like that). Sitting on the Tacoma waterfront, this charming hotel served our needs just fine. Quaint room (suite) with a nice sitting room overlooking the bay and the waterfront. Fireplace in the room was a nice feature, although the weather was so perfect, we hardly needed it! Hot breakfast in the morning was nice. Recommend this spot for the upcoming 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Lots of construction along the waterfront will add more shops and restaurants and should be ready by the time the Open arrives. Plenty of dining opportunities along the waterfront if you choose not to go into Tacoma downtown or Seattle. Short drive to Gig Harbor and about 75 mins to Bainbridge Island which is a treat if you have never been. All in all a great trip. Highly recommend this hotel.

We liked this place!
This hotel is on a pier on the water - a lovely location. The layout reminds me of the Edgewater in Seattle. It's not super fancy, but very comfortable. The rooms are big and airy, with views of the water. The only downside is the HVAC system is pretty noisy.

Great Place in a Beautiful Location
We had a room that looked out at the sunset over the Puget Sound. Absolutely gorgeous. There was plenty to do in the area, although we had no time to do it. The room was comfortable in size. The bedding was nice. The staff was very polite and helpful. The price was kind of high, but I waited until the last second to book.

The hotel is older, but completely renovated and clean. The location is along the renovated waterfront walkway with plenty of restaurants nearby. The continental breakfast was neat, organized and the food was above average. The staff was friendly. Only negative... our room was on parking lot side with limited view. Tip: ask for West side room.

This was a very nice hotel. Clean, quiet, awesome view and next to some excellent dining. Our rate included breakfast. Food was very good. We were there visiting my son and they let him eat with us at no add'l charge. I would highly recommend.

Great View!
The hotel's location right on the water is the main draw of this hotel. Plus: Parking and breakfast included. Reception on Tuesday evenings. The view. Rooms are comfortable and include a microwave and fridge. Aveda products. Negative: No room service or restaurant on site. There are a few within a mile or so but they aren't open late.

The hotel was very clean and looked nice. We walked around the pier and the running trails where right there. The staff was awesome, my husband brought me breakfast back to the room in the morning and no one complained. Everyone we met was pleasant and the views of the bay and the ships docking were fun to watch.

Pretty disappointing
One of the most uncomfortable nights of sleep I've had in a hotel. A train goes by several times a night and no earplugs or warnings are provided ahead of time. The walls were thin. It was as if people walking down the halls were in the room talking. It sounded like a dryer was running all night. The heater kicked on like a jet engine and was super loud. This was my getaway from a 1 year old baby that has been waking me up all night for the last year and I got LESS sleep than I normally do at home. The bedding itself was ok, however, and the pillows were really soft. If you are used to firm pillows, that could be a negative (as it was for my wife). I personally really liked them. Regular movie rentals were 12 times more expensive than a typical rental you would get out of a "box" and they weren't even great movies. The video games that you could rent from the TV were almost 15 year old games. Really outdated system. The hotel is vanilla and is really using the fact that it sits on the water to knock it up a notch. I do have to say that my wife was really happy with the quality of the shampoo and other bathing items. She said they were better than average in that regard. However the bathroom was small and awkward in general. Breakfast was a little better than a typical continental (included waffles, sausage and eggs). However there wasn't much seating in the common area. We had to sit at a coffee table by the fireplace (though a couple of 4 person tables were occupied by single guests reading their newspapers). All in all, I wouldn't stay here unless I had to. It's more of a "we were driving and this was the only hotel we could find" type place. Not a "local getaway with my wife" kind of place.

Serene comfort on the water
This was my 3rd stay but the first lasting more than 1 night. The breakfast buffet offered a lovely variety each day. The view of the water from my room was, by turns, serene, spectacular sunrise, fascinating display of wildlife. From front desk to kitchen to cleaning staff, all were gracious and helpful. I can't wait for the next visit.

Room was very nice and very comfortable. Had all the amenities in the room needed for an enjoyable stay. The breakfast was varied and good and in the hotel lobby it was very comfortable with a nice view of the water. Walking trail along the waterfront a plus.

Great location, very nice rooms, however don't plan on sleeping in at all. I was woken up multiple times in the morning by housekeeping and maintenance personnel in the hallways attending to other rooms. Either the walls are extremely thin or the staff is just really loud and inconsiderate.

Quiet retreat on the waterfront
This hotel, on Commencement Bay, was a relaxing, quiet retreat in a very busy metropolitan area. It is only minutes from I-5. The rooms overlook the water on all sides. Breakfast was more than the typical waffle-maker, cereal and rolls. It included hot scrambled eggs and sausage and fresh fruit. The hotel staff was friendly and couteous. I would visit this hotel in the future.

We stay in this motel as often as possible if we are going to Tacoma. The view is amazing, and it is within walking distance of some nice restaurants. My only complaint was the bed linens were a little stiff, but overall still very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good, too.

Fantastic Holiday Stay!
Spent 5 days at the Silver Cloud visiting family during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Great stay! Loved the location on the water, staff were very friendly, hotel lovely maintained and the morning waffles wonderful! Great Holiday stay! All family got along marvelously because we were sleeping on the couch on a family stay. - Highly recommend!

" A little jewel at the Tacoma waterfront"
I booked on line just hours before I arrived. I had to be in Tacoma early in the morning and I arrived about 10:30 PM and so I didn't spend a lot of time there but I can say that the desk person was wonderful and extremely helpful. MY room was very clean and attractive and it had a great work area....more plugs than I have seen in a hotel room,ever! The view was great......looking out on the water,boats and the constantly changing sky. I did find the bathroom very small but manageable. In the morning I was in a rush and the desk clerk in the morning was wanderful. She got my luggage into my car and encouraged me to have some breakfast before I left. The bufffet was really nice, much better than any I have seen.

Best sunrise view!
Arrived after a late dinner. Upgraded to a room with a fireplace. Windows opened for an uninstructed view of the bay. Great CLEAN room. Aveda products. And waking up to the most breathtaking sunrise over the bay. Excellent breakfast. Free shuttle to UPS. Helpful staff. Will come back!!

Beautiful Spot
Pros: The location was stunning, Right on the bay, a walking path running right in front of the hotel. Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Nice shampoo. Plenty of good restaurants along the same road within short driving distance. I would definitely stay here again Con: Only thing that could be improved would be a little more parking and larger parking spaces. But the parking was FREE.
