We wanted a location to escape to between activities in the city at the University. The property was PERFECT! It was easily accessible to the city of Syracuse and yet a very quiet, spacious and serene location to come to between or after events.It was especially perfect for the post graduation family celebration of about 10 people with a great long porch overlooking the river and an open and spacious living room/dining facility to which the porch was attached. Very roomy accommodations and plenty of parking space.The owner was easily accessible as well as helpful. We arrived very late the first night and struggled with the entrance. I hesitatingly called the owner who answered immediately and fixed our issue over the phone instantaneously.Renting this property made for a perfect stress free graduation weekend spent with family and friends. I would recommend it without question for a pure vacation location as well because of it's location on the water with a big yard and spacious house in a quiet area! The home was super convenient to the highway and airport. This is a very nice home offering ample space up to eight (we had six). There is a very tight, winding staircase to the downstairs so we decided to bring our luggage in from outside. Worked fine. The views were so beautiful, and lots of land for pups. The entire backyard was fenced so super nice. We would stay again. That being said there were many spider webs in the downstairs bedrooms which results from the lower level and water location. This needs attention for future guests. Our check in process was okay thanks to the occupant at the lower end of the property who was friendly and helpful. The deck overlooks the river, so it’s great to sit out on the deck. The house was clean. The only issues we experienced was the A/C system couldn’t keep up. The downstairs (finished basement) was much colder and comfortable, but the upstairs would not get below 79°-82°. I believe the sun shining directly into all the windows and sheer curtains and being the hottest week of year didn’t help. But, it was unbearably hot upstairs. Thankfully, we were gone most of the time during the days for family functions. Owner did offer to have someone come out and going to check into A/C system, so it might get resolved. Basic home is also great - spacious and accommodating. My family actually had a great time at our eclipse watching reunion. But there were a lot of irritating maintenance issues. Biggest was the front door key code lock would not lock from the outside. We finally figured out we could lock the front door from the inside and exit our whole group through the garage and still leave the house secure. Owner was not there to let us in and did not provide us a dook code until we reached him by text. He had not been very responsive to previous texts asking about such things. A closet door in the downstairs was off it's hinges. Doorknob missing from another closet door. A lot of exposed mechanicals in the downstairs closets. Heating at night was very noisy. Screen on upstairs deck was off and in pieces. Etc. Light switches were a complete mystery. We never found a switch for the front entry lights (or maybe the bulbs were burned out). One of the glass lamp pieces was removed from a front light fixture when we got there. The bunk bed in the downstairs bedroom is sort of silly. Upper bunk is only about 18" below the low ceiling and a ceiling light intrudes into that space about 6". Owner left a note that we should run a load of bedclothes and sheets before we left but also said we should provide our own laundry detergent. We did strip the beds but that's all. Convenient location for our plans and nice yard with water view. Comfortable beds and convenience of 4 bathrooms. Maid was still there, house was a mess as previous renters stayed an additional day. Docks were rotted, smoke detectors were disabled because nobody bothered to put new batteries in. Fence was broken and down on ground. Owner stayed on site and did not disclose that in add. If anyone fell into the river, there was no emergency ladder to escape. Deck rails were rotted, we put chairs in front of the spots so children could not fall off deck. We had to go out day one and buy soap and Toilet paper, the ones there were empty. Lamps did not work, missing bulbs or broken. Too many issues to list. One positive was the location to shops and things.
