Originally comprising the buildings of the only farm in the village, they offer holiday accommodation of a very high standard, blending modern facilities with old world charm, have wi-fi internet access, and lie close to the 18th-century village pub serving good food. Stretching from the pretty thriving village of Mumbles on the western edge of Swansea Bay, the south coast offers many opportunities for water sports, with beautiful sandy beaches further along the coast to the jewel of Rhossilli, and a 22-mile coastal path rewards walkers with some of the most stunning scenery in Wales. Taking on a more wild and rugged look, the north coast stretches from Llangennith along miles of deserted sandy beaches, and follows the Loughor Estuary. The Rhossilli Downs overlook the beach towards Worms Head – reached by a causeway at low tide. For a change of tempo, the city of Swansea beckons. Home of Dylan Thomas, Swansea (with its cinema, bowling, indoor leisure facilities) has the largest indoor market in Wales and boasts an excellent maritime quarter containing the Welsh Maritime Museum, as well Plantasia. Travelling west towards the rugby town of Llanelli, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust is a must for bird-watchers, and the Millennium Coastal Park makes an excellent cycling venue, leading to Pembrey Country Park, with woodland and 7-mile sandy beach. One member of our party had a little difficulty with the vertical nature of the stairs this property is not suitable for those with mobility issues and the ground floor is not on the level. Some of the oventrays could have been cleaner or newer, but the owner responded fairly promptly to an issue with hall light. Not enough recycling bags available for self caterers needs. Due to the historic ambience of the house, doors did not easily shut and the window in the "big"bedroom couldn't become closed properly. The garden seems to catch the afternoon/evening sun, and though not right on the coast, it is on high ground so you can glimpse the sea in the distance. Gower is a fantastic place to holiday with your dog, as about half the beaches allow dogs all summer. We stayed in early July and had miles of sandy beaches almost to ourselves - just a few other dog owners in the distance.
