Thank you for your review. We have almost finished refurbishing the bedrooms, we have just over 10 more to do which will be finished by end of March 2023. Corridors, function space and reception have already been completed. Plan next is to move to the bar and to finish the restaurant. Thank you for your review. I'm sorry if you did not feel that the hotel was clean. We normally receive great feedback about the cleanliness of the hotel. We have refurbished most of the bedrooms in the hotel and the restaurant and reception areas. We have more refurbishment plans in 2024. Hopefully we will see you again then.

Our apologies for the fire alarm going off during your stay. Obviously this isn't our usual standard. A guest was smoking in a room and set off a sensor. The alarm system then automatically shuts off the gas to the boilers. I'm so sorry, this obviously isn't our normal standard. We have signs in all the rooms stating it's a none smoking hotel but these are often ignored.

Our sincere apologies for the issues that you experienced on your recent stay. Obviously this is not our usual standard of service. I'm afraid that a guest smoked in one of the bedrooms which triggered the sensor. That then turned off the gas to the boilers. I'm so sorry. We have signs in every bedroom informing guests there will be a 100 fine if they smoke but it doesn't always deter people.

During the night when limited staff are working the fire procedure is to check the sensor that has been triggered to ensure there is no fire. Hopefully they were able to let you back in as soon as possible.

Thank you for your review. We are working our way around the hotel refurbishing areas. Function room has just been finished so we will be moving back to the restaurant which has already been painted but we have further plans. The corridors have all been carpeted and painted, the reception area has new furniture and has been redecorated. We are half way through the restaurant, we still have a bookcase to build and some wallpaper to go up but had to move to the function room which has been repainted. The bar and conservatory will be done next year as well as more of the 2nd floor rooms. I'm sorry progress is slow. We have been working on it since reopening after lockdown.
