This two-level cabin has a hot tub, central AC, rocking chair porch, and wonderful setting, just minutes from the historic Mast General Store. The home accommodates up to six with one king size bed and two queen size beds. 3 BR, 2 Baths, Sleep 6 ACCOMMODATIONS: Main level: Master with king and private bath with walk-in tiled shower Upper level: Second bedroom with queen, third bedroom with queen, second full bath Are you looking for a peaceful mountain getaway in a classic log cabin with great outdoor space and a cozy stone fireplace for warming up after a day on the nearby slopes? Welcome to Almost Heaven, a traditional Valle Crucis family cabin rental in a wonderful setting just minutes from the river and historic Mast General Store. Valle Crucis NC has always been the heart of the High Country; driving through it feels as though you have stepped back in time as you pass the large white general store and fields with horses and cows. Cross the Watauga River, popular for canoes, river tubes and fishing, and head in to the Glen at Mast Gap. When you arrive at the cabin, you will appreciate the easy, level entry, which makes unloading the car a breeze. Step into the large, open living area and you are greeted with the large stone fireplace and many windows. The interior is warm and inviting, with special touches throughout. The care the owners have taken in preparing this cabin for your vacation is evident in every room, with unique mountain décor and charming touches. There is plenty of seating for everyone in both the living room and around the large country dining table. Or take advantage of our lovely spring and summer weather and dine outside on the large deck. In the morning, enjoy your coffee on the covered porch, listening to the birds and perhaps even seeing a deer or wild turkey pass by. At night, enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub while trying to count all the stars overhead. When your day comes to an end, there are three bedrooms to enjoy a comfortable nights' sleep. The master bedroom is conveniently located on the main level, with art by popular local artists and scrollwork king bed. The highlight is the master bath, recently renovated with large tiled walk-in shower. Upstairs, there are two more bedrooms, the first with high wooden ceilings and queen bed. The third bedroom has a queen size bed. There is an additional full bath on this level. Spring, summer and even fall, enjoy the outdoor space at Almost Heaven. The large decks feature plenty of comfortable outdoor seating, including bent willow, rocking chairs, dining set and of course, the hot tub. There is a large gas grill for cooking up the days' catch, and a great yard – lots of room for the kids to play, or the adults to enjoy the view and natural surroundings. There are even woods to explore! Best of all, the cabin is convenient to local attractions and events, including Tweetsie Railroad, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain or home games of the championship Appalachian State University Mountaineers. But be sure to enjoy all there is in Valle Crucis, be it horseback riding, exploring the charms of the historic Mast General Store, or an afternoon at the popular Valle Crucis Park with its paved trails, river access, playground, picnic pavilion and live music on summer weekends. For the classic mountain getaway, Almost Heaven is the perfect log cabin rental for your family! Almost Heaven has paved access for all except the last ¼ mile. Additional Notes: \- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, several garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens will be provided. \- Check in is after 4pm and Checkout is by 10am \- Must be at least 25 years old to reserve. This person is required to be the person signing the agreement and must be one of the persons staying in the property for the reserved dates. \- No smoking inside the home. No trace of smoking left outside the home. \- Do not leave food or trash outside as it could attract animals. All trash must be bagged and placed in the trash receptacle indicated in the Welcome Book inside the house or your digital guidebook. \- No parties or gatherings above the posted occupancy allowed at any time. Keep outside noise respectable. \- 4WD/AWD and/or chains recommended during winter (Nov-March) for all homes. Travelers visiting during the winter months where inclement weather may be possible should come prepared with an AWD or 4WD vehicle, and chains may also be required if it snows. No refunds, allowances, or date changes will be given to travelers who are not prepared with the proper vehicle, as outlined in the Rental Agreement. \- NCREC Broker Name: Blue Ridge Mountain Rentals. The cabin is beautiful as is the view. It was clean and well-stocked with start-up essentials when we arrived. The beds were comfortable, the pillows were soft, and the shower was a dream. We loved the wrap-around porch as did our pup who is used to being able to roam around in our backyard. We will definitely be back to stay again. We really loved this cabin and location! Very clean, nice decor, lots of big windows and light, cozy fireplace, and plenty of comfy furniture so our group of 5 could relax in the living room together. We really enjoyed the wrap around deck with rockers and hot tub. The location worked out great, only a 20 minute drive to Banner Elk and Beech Mountain and less than that to Boone. Major plus in the winter that it was close to a main (and flat) road. Last cabin we rented was much further into the mountains and up winding roads and we struggled with that drive in the snow. We didn’t have any issues with the driveway to this cabin either. We would definitely rent here again. ##### Bethany S. Clean house, lovely n'hood, homes on about an acre each. Great area. Easy check in and out. The description is accurate. The kitchen has the bare essentials. I wish I'd brought my own knives, a full size cutting board (there are 3 small ones at the property) and food storage. Other than that, we had what we needed in the kitch. I also wish I'd brought some extra towels. Also, theres a broom but no vacuum for the carpet. Other than those few things, this is a nice house, plenty of room for everyone. The deck is fabulous! Nice and roomy. There is only parking for 2 cars here. The proximity to lots of places is good. Beautiful area of NC. Would def recommend. ##### Carolyn S. Only issue we had was with the comforter on bed down stairs and blankets in basket by TV, they were covered in animal hair and were not able to be used.
