![Gateposts and Huts at Stuartfield POW Camp The old gateposts at the old prisoner of war camp at Stuartfield in Aberdeenshire remain, as do some of the now derelict huts. Stuartfield initially housed Italian POW's, but later interred captured German soldiers, some from the 12th Panzer Division, after they were taken prisoner at Caen in France. « L'endroit est magnifique, hotel et environs. tout est conforme à ce qu'on attend d'un grand hotel: chambres, service attentionné, très bonne cuisine, etc. Nous n'avons pas utilisé le golf mais il semblait parfait. En revanche nous avons utilisé la plage voisine de Balmenie, qui est splendie. Seul regret, de devoir quitter cet endroit. »
