Welcome to St Mary’s Cottage — a graceful 18th-century home with tall sash windows, generous proportions, and an enviable view over one of the Cotswolds’ most iconic churchyards. Nestled in the heart of Painswick, this beautifully presented three-bedroom retreat combines historic charm with everyday comfort.  
  
Step through the front door into a welcoming hallway that leads to a well-equipped kitchen, with dual aspects: one overlooking the 99 ancient yew trees of St Mary’s Church, the other facing the picturesque Victoria Square. It’s a lovely space for relaxed breakfasts before a day exploring, or slow suppers around the table.  
  
The sitting room is calm and light-filled, featuring a striking (decorative) stone fireplace and direct access to the courtyard garden. A glass-lined sunroom links both the sitting area and the garden, perfect for morning coffee, alfresco dinners, or a quiet read with the church as your backdrop. It’s also a favourite spot for capturing a keepsake photo.  
  
For additional sleeping arrangements, the sitting room includes a high-quality sofa bed that can be made up on request for an extra charge. It’s particularly well suited for children and offers a super-comfortable night’s sleep without compromising on style or space.  
  
Upstairs on the first floor, you'll find a charming twin bedroom with churchyard views and ample storage. Across the hall, the spacious family bathroom features both a bath and a separate shower, with plenty of character and natural light.  
  
The top floor is home to the principal bedroom, a generous space with a Super king-sized bed, seating area, and vanity desk, all overlooking the rooftops of Painswick and the rolling hills of the Slad Valley. Also on this level is a second twin bedroom, thoughtfully styled and ideal for children or friends sharing. A cloakroom with WC is also located upstairs.  
  
The private courtyard garden is a real highlight — a peaceful, enclosed space bordered by a curved Cotswold stone wall, drawing the eye to the spire of St Mary’s Church. Whether you're enjoying an early breakfast, sundowners, or supper beneath the stars, it’s a magical setting.  
  
On-street parking is available nearby, with a free public car park just a two-minute stroll across the churchyard.  
  
Travelling as a group? For larger bookings of up to twelve guests, we can arrange additional accommodation at a neighbouring cottage just across the square.
