Hotel with charm in decent distance to the city.

Posted 10-Aug-2015
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, shower working great.
Cons: More breakfast alternatives would have been nice - and maybe some recycling containers for the plastic stuff.
Location: About 2 miles to walk or drive to the city part of St. Ignace where you can get a nice Whitefish. More a stop-through to other destinations on the UP.
Walking through the halls I felt reminded on the kind of inns, school classes in Germany go to. Every door has its own sign made from wood with an animal on it. The room itself is decent sized and contains the standard equipment. The bathroom sink is located in the main room, which was not unpractical since we had to share the bathroom with four people. The facilities were working and everything seemed clean, but not overly luxurious. The rooms are not well isolated noise-wise, meaning when somebody walks in the room above you, you will probably know, but this did not happen very often, so it did not really disturb me. At about six in the morning the seagulls in front of our window got in some kind of fight, that was really noisy, but if you want to sleep this close to one of the Great Lakes, you have to be fine with something like that. The breakfast was okay, probably great if you really like sugar :-) You really had to look for healthy alternatives but fresh bananas were also available as well as non-fat yoghurt and eggs and raisin bran. Everything is packed in little plastic containers so you will generate some trash here and it was more than a bit chaotic. Overall an okay hotel for the price, nothing great, but clean and friendly.

Nice hotel near the beach is the best description. Nothing fancy. Pool was good sized and room was average. Price made it worthwhile since we didn't anticipate staying long.

Great location - frayed around the edges

Hotel rooms not quite what we were expecting. Continental breakfast a disaster - too small a room, too many people, and out of breakfast items.

Nice hotel, great pool area, great lake view

Posted 28-Jun-2015
Pros: location - pool - water view - clean rooms
Cons: outdoor bug control
Location: Eat at Java Joe's for breakfast, walking distance and the Mexican Restaurant next door has great white-fish tacos. Need to drive into town.
Booking easy, check in easy, room had a great view of Mackinaw Island. Good food available close. Only issue was the mosquito's that prevented us from utilizing our nice balcony. Very well kept yard and waterfront area. Great breakfast buffet included with room, lots of choices! Very nice indoor pool area, clean and it didn't reek of chlorine but was very clean.

Would not recommend this hotel

Condition of hotel poor! Lake view wih patio but couldn't open door due to bugs, even had written warning from staff not to open door. Couldn't get room door to shut on last night. Creepy looking wild boars on a stick in view of lake. And lastly, Found something growing from floor in hallway. Definitely not going back!

The Hotel is an excellent choice.

Pros: Clean and well maintained. The breakfast room was awesome, lots of choices. Wish I brought my swim suit.
Cons: Nothing that I could see.
Location: Location is close to dining, and the ferry to Mackinac Island. If you enjoy Casino's, there is one about 4 miles away.
Had a enjoyable experience, every one so friendly. When checking in, I told the desk clerk that I had a room booked three years ago, but had to cancel it, due to my husband having his 2nd heart attack, but I was bound and determined to get to St Ignace because I heard so much about the area. My friend and I had a great time. The area is so beautiful, and as said, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Gave us advice on places that we wanted to visit. Housekeeping does an excellent job of making up the room. What can I say? I do know that I will be booking for next year again. Thank you, Bavarian Haus, for a great get away

Affordable are hotel

We stayed here while in the Machinaw area for a couple of days. It is an older hotel, but fairly well maintained. Rooms were clean, simple, and quiet. Still had older "tube" TV in the room. Shower and bathroom area were separate and spacious - also separate from sink and mirror area (my wife loved that!) Not a lot of restaurants in St. Ignace - a half dozen local "sit-down" restaurants.
