Great Location

Posted 29-Nov-2016
This hotel is located right in the middle of everything. It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really good. Unfortunately for us, we got a room on the side of the street that had construction going on. Apparently the Danish workers start at 5 in the morning with dumping heavy concrete into dumpsters... extremely loud and horrible to sleep to. If we were there for more then one night we would differently ask to be moved to the other side of the hotel.

Wonderful hotel, well located

Posted 20-Nov-2016
Pros: Having coffee and business facilities on the floor was very useful. Funky design, great breakfast.
Location: Just a short walk to the old city. Interesting walks and views close by.
Although relatively small the hotel room was very comfortable with all necessary services. Great shower, comfortable bed.

Comfortable, well-managed hotel, perfect location

Posted 8-Nov-2016
Pros: Location, room comfort.
Cons: More hooks in the bathroom and a cord to hang laundry.
Location: Everything you would want to do in central Stockholm is within walking distance or a short T-bana trip.
Never having been to Stockholm, we chose the Rival based mainly on an old NY Times Travel section recommendation. We were not disappointed. The public areas are beautiful, the "superior" room large for a European hotel and quite comfortable. The bathroom was small but well-organized, and the shower was topnotch - roomy with a cascade shower head. Although there is a bar and nightclub on the first floor, we heard no noise in our third floor room. The hotel faces a lovely square, so even in front rooms, there is no traffic noise, an important consideration in a town with cobblestone streets. There are restaurants and cafes nearby neighborhood, so you don't have to have the expensive hotel breakfast buffet if you only want a coffee and croissant. The hotel is one block from the Mariatorget T-bana station and a ten-minute walk across a bridge to Old Town. If we have one complaint, it is the same complaint we have about almost all Northern Europe hotels: the bedding consists of a bottom sheet and a down comforter enclosed in another sheet. We had to remove the sheet and sleep under it to avoid sweating through the night. Hoteliers, please put a blanket in the room! The Rival was developed by Benny Anderssen of ABBA, so you'd better not be repelled by ABBA kitsch in your room.

Best hotel, best staff, best food

Posted 5-Nov-2016
Pros: Everything was impeccable. Great location within walking distance to Galma Stan.
Wow. What a great experience this was. Staff are friendly, cocktails were fantastic. Both the cafe and the restaurant were busy all the time but the staff, especially in the restaurant were brilliant. Great breakfast array. Yum all around

Wonderful stay at Hotel Rival

Posted 18-Oct-2016
Location: Sodermalm is charming, with a few busy shopping streets nearby. For gay travelers, Side Track is a popular (and small) bar just a couple blocks away.
Room was a bit small but very comfortable. Room rate includes extensive breakfast buffet with hot food items, breads, cereals, cold cuts, and fruit/juices, as well as the option to order omelets, pancakes, or French toast. Hotel staff was very helpful. Many DVDs to borrow, but few in English. No gym on the premises, but access to a gym just 2 doors down the street.

Reasonable hotel

Posted 14-Oct-2016
Pros: Good restaurant. Good coffee tea options
Cons: Lighting system in the room should be improved TV is mounted at a very strange location that you can not watch comfortably.
Location: central , good location
Over all an OK stay. But if you compare the cost VS quality of stay then i would not recommend.

Hotel needs upgrading

Posted 11-Oct-2016
No fault to the staff but our room felt old. There was a large gash out of the woodwork surrounding the mini fridge and the carpet looked dingy. We were only there for about 6 hours but the final blow was when we went to make the much needed coffee and found only decaf had been stocked.
