In normal years, there is water running over the entire length of the rock shelf which is now almost entirely exposed. You wouldn't have been able to walk down onto the rocks as I did and snap this photograph. Truth be told, most of the existing photographs are taken from a side view. The shot back from the approach on the trail doesn't give you enough of an angle to get the entire scene. Take a good look.
