Triton's Overlook, a former local estate known as Villa Maitland, has undergone an extensive renovation over the past few years. While much of the house is new, nods to the past still abound-from the massive mahogany doors , to the old West Indies parquet floor in the Master Bedroom. And with large glass windows and doors spanning across the open-concept home, you can take in the unbelievable views and enjoy the gentle breeze from the couch, or even while working in the kitchen. From the comfort of the Overlook Family Room and porch look for large yachts passing thru Pillsbury Sound on their way to St John or look below thru the clear Caribbean water for sea rays, dolphins and fish swimming by . There is always something to look for. Our photos barely do it justice! The fully optioned gourmet kitchen includes a dishwasher, five burner gas stove with dual-oven, microwave, toaster, and Keurig. Plenty of space for all the "cooks" in the group ! The Theater Room, just off of the main living area, offers a 75” high definition SmartTV with surround sound in a enclosed setting for twelve to enjoy a special show or movie. All five bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms and King size beds. Four bedrooms have "down island views". The Master Bedroom and two others are located off of the main living area. The master bedroom is palatial, offering a full view of the Caribbean from the comfort of a king size Sleep Number bed. It also includes a large walk-in-closet with a bathroom featuring an open floor shower big enough for two (gotta save water). A second bedroom also offers a Sleep Number king size bed, an ocean view and opens up to a private balcony. A third bedroom offers a king size bed high open ceiling and a view of the water overlooking gorgeous grounds.This room is convenient to the main living area and makes a perfect Au Pair suite. Two bedrooms on the lower level offer the same ocean view as above, and open up to a private ground level porch for easy access to the pool and grounds. ( Great for those late night swims ). The downstairs entertainment area includes a wet bar, ice maker, large curved high definition Smart TV and a large bar top for games, eating, drinking or just gathering to talk or meet to plan the day's activities. The sliding glass doors open directly to the pool deck. The house is fully air conditioned and has a large generator to power the entire house in case of power outages during your stay. Internet is available through the house and pool area for those who need to stay connected. For those music lovers Sonos services the pool deck, lower level activity room, theater room, foyer/dining room and master bedroom. All TV’s are Smart TV’s with Net Flix, Amazon Prime and Utube. NEED MORE BEDROOMS ? GUEST HOUSE CAN ADD UP TO TWO MORE BEDROOMS: The property also features a separate two bedroom guest house , Triton’s Hideaway, which is only rented with the house. The spacious master bedroom features a king size bed with large en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom is a loft bedroom with a king size bed and private bathroom. Downstairs, which is on level with the pool deck and grounds, features a family room, a full bathroom, and kitchen all with direct water view. The guest house is fully air conditioned, has its own generator, Wi-Fi and Smart TV’s. When renting the main house you can rent the Guest House’s Master Bedroom alone as an additional separate bedroom or the full house. Your choice. The guest house is not included in the price for the house so please ask for a quote adding the Guest house. The Guest House is only available as additional accommodations when renting the full property. We never rent the guest house out to a different party. The entire property is only available to you. ADDING TRITON’S HIDEAWAY, ( the guest house ) to TRITON’S OVERLOOK CAN INCREASE THE NUMBER OF GUESTS FROM 10 TO 12, OR 14. Triton's Overlook is conveniently located about one mile outside of Red Hook on the East End of St. Thomas. Red Hook offers many restaurants and bars, shopping, groceries, a marina, and the ferry to St. John and the British Virgin Islands. Many tours and charters are also booked out of Red Hook. What makes Triton's Overlook so special and unique is that there are so many areas to escape to your "own space", whether inside the house or outside on the expansive, lush grounds. It's more than just a house, it's a experience that very few can match. With over one acre of enclosed grounds, fruit and palm trees, and other tropical flowering plants there is always something new to see every day. Enjoy the breeze under the palm trees and sea grapes on your own private beach area, step directly and swim in you own lagoon, snorkel on the coral reef right in front of the house, or lay out at the pool. The pool area was super clean and even in winter, pool is in the sun. The little beach and cove area were great for snorkeling when the seas weren't too rough. The kitchen is very well stocked, the showers hot, and the a/c all over worked great! Importantly, the road to the villa is pretty easily navigated, even without a Jeep. Most of all, I want to thank the owners and the property manager for helping us in our time of need. We were caught in St. Thomas during the Caribbean airspace closures, resulting in massive airline cancellations all over, and they were responsive and so helpful during this stressful time. They helped us through those first crazy 24 hours and we are very grateful. Thank you Dawn, Dave, and Joanne! ##### Michele M. Best location, close to RedHook for food and activities. The decorations and cleanliness of the house were fabulous, and the pool was a great area to hang out. The lagoon gives another place to hang out and take in the sights. Just one more perk of this house. We also enjoyed movies at night in the theatre room. An unexpected treat of this house. I would say this is the best spot in St.Thomas. We could not have asked a better vacation or a better place to stay. This house seems unique, as it sits right on the water. The concrete pier offers a great perspective and the whole house has 270 degrees of the best views around. The amenities and finishes are really well thought out.The beds are very comfortable, and the bedrooms are very private. Each room has an ensuite, and virtually no noise is transmitted to the bedrooms.There is plenty of hang out space. The two movie areas accomodated our entire crew. The only disappointment was that the recliners in the lower level are all broken or not functioning. The grotto in the lower level must have been gorgeous when the waterfall was working!The kitchen is very well appointed. Loads of dishware and cutlery. We did have to purchase ice, as the ice maker in the fridge was not working, and the ice maker in the coffee bar didnt make quite enough for the frozen drink demands! I would however encourage the owners to take a good look at the cookware. There is a very generous amount of pots and pans, but most of them all scratched and unuseable. We found two stainless steel pans that we used exclusively. I know most people dont care about cooking on vacation, but we love to hang out in the kitchen together!I would also strongly suggest that the hosts upgrade to USB charging stations in the kitchen and bedrooms. Everyone has phones, tablets and devices that need USB outlets.The two sets of laundry appliances are a huge bonus. We spent most of the time in the pool! We had 11 adults and five grandchildren at the VRBO/Triton. The house was exceptional and the size was perfect.We were all able to have individual rooms and enjoyed all of the amenities. There were two entertainment rooms, large kitchen, multiple dining tables. The pool was perfect size we can all use together. And the views from the house and the pool were gorgeous. The listing mentioned the property even had a lagoon for the our family to swim in. Upon arrival the property was in a great location but it was not what was listed. The photos of the listing showed a hot tub and there was not one to be found. I didn't make a big deal about it while there because I wanted to enjoy the vacation while being there with my family. My daughter started playing in the lagoon on the first day and got stung by sea urchin. Upon further review of the lagoon, it was full of rusty metal, pipes, and sea urchin everywhere. There is not practical use of the lagoon other than making the view less desirable. Like I said, we were there and I didn't want to spend multiple hours trying to cancel my nonrefundable stay so I just made the most of it. At the end of the trip, I reached out to the host and ask for a small discount (10%) since there was not a hot tub. After some back and forth, the host offered a discount toward a future stay at the property. I explained to them I didn't come to the Virgin Islands often and that I would want a property with a hot tub. I asked for a discount and ultimately got told I was trying to extort money. If a property has photos of a hot tub beside the pool of property, then it should have a hot tub. The host should be willing to discount the property if they are good and honest people. Sometimes I guess money is all that matters. ##### Brandon S. The house was more than big enough for our 8 person family. It was easy to gather in either of the large family rooms or hide away for some alone time by the pool or beach area. The welcome gift of large fruit basket was greatly appreciated. We had hoped to be able to swim and snorkel in the cove but the rocks and waves made this a little challenging. Our only slight disappointment was not being able to walk to any beaches- they were close enough but the traffic was way too fast and there is no area to walk. We did a private charter on a catamaran out of red hook (just one mile away) with Stormy Pirates and it was fantastic. The pool area was nice and clean with plenty of lounge chairs. We did a family vacation with kids and grandkids and we couldn't have found a more perfect place to stay. There are essentially four levels to the home which creates the ability to create some privacy while at the same time there are large common gathering areas. The bedrooms are all a great size with their own bathrooms and the views are fantastic! The grandkids loved the pool as well as the lagoon where they did some snorkeling. Red Hook was only a five minute drive away and one beach was walkable.We had a minor air conditioning unit leak that we called about and Dave got someone out that day to repair it. Always responsive and great answering any questions and requests.We loved it and wished we could have stayed another week! Highly recommend and hope to return. ##### Lisa P. There were 10 of us in the main house (8 adults and 2 teenagers) and 1 adult in the guest house master bedroom. There was ample space for us to all sprawl out and do our own thing during the day and regroup in the evenings. The views are simply breathtaking. We had incredible weather all week and took full advantage of the pool, private beach and snorkeling cove. Red Hook offered everything we needed off-property (market, restaurants Etc.) which was convenient. The property managers were very friendly and helpful.
