Sandy Shores has been in the Hall family for over 60 years, and is currently owned and operated by Myrtle Hall. Myrtle is German-born and moved to Indian Rocks Beach in 2000 when she married her late husband, Ned. Ned’s grandmother bought the Indian Rocks Beach property in 1946\. Ned's father George Hall built the first, two-story building in 1952\. The one-story Gulf Cottage (vrbo/78339) followed in 1972\. Ned's family lived here in the winter, and spent the summer in Ithaca, NY, where his father was the Golf Coach at Cornell University for over 40 years. Ned followed in his footsteps as a PGA Teaching Professional for over 25 years. He was teaching at the Clearwater Golf Club located in Clearwater, Florida when Myrtle, in Florida on holiday from Germany, met him in 1998\. Myrtle and Ned, of course, had their wedding right in front of beautiful Sandy Shores! Like Ned, Myrtle fell in love with this beautiful property and its rich family history. Ned and Myrtle started to rent out their cottages in 2005 after a complete beautification and enjoyed every minute of sharing this lovely property with their guests. Myrtle carries on the Hall family tradition of hospitality at Sandy Shores and adds her special brand of German warmth. Her attention to detail and cleanliness makes Sandy Shores a unique and charming retreat. Free Wireless/WIFI available. Visit our other COTTAGE at: VRBO #78339 - Gulf Cottage Sandy Shores is a very unique “slice of old Florida”, with lots of flowers, palms, lounging areas, privacy, all with a relaxed vibe. There are only four units on the property and three of them rent on a weekly basis – so most of the time you have the whole place to yourself. The Gulf Cottage is a single story, one bedroom House, very private, quiet and clean with a spectacular, unobstructed view of the Gulf of Mexico. It has a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa. The kitchen has everything what a chef would wish for, a big fridge, dishwasher, microwave and stove included. The bathroom has a bath tub / Shower. Behind the Gulf Cottage and landscaped courtyard is a two story building – the top floor I reside in – with the PATIO and GARDEN Cottages below. The Patio Cottage has a King Bed and Queen Sleeper Sofa, the Garden Cottage has a Queen Bed and a Queen Sleeper Sofa. Both have a full kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave. The grounds are impeccable as are the cottages. Myrtle greeted us with a tour of the grounds and was so personable. The cottage we rented was just what we needed. The first thing we noted was how clean it was, not a speck of dust/dirt anywhere. We had wanted a peaceful getaway for the two of us to relax and it was perfect. Just a few steps to the beach, we love Indian Rocks Beach! Restaurants within walking distance were a plus. It was a perfect getaway! We could walk out the door and be on the beach in about 45 secs. There are a few restaurants, a cvs and a brewery across the street, which was very convenient. This was our first time staying in Indian rocks. We would definitely visit again. We would also stay in one of the units at Sandy shores again. The property is well maintained and the flowers, plants, trees are beautiful! Also…. The beach in front of the property was not crowded. The water was calm and clear ##### Beth J. Sandy Shores is now our "Go To" choice. It is clean and well appointed. Lots of room for a one-bedroom unit. Literally just steps from the beach and across the street (Gulf Blvd.) from great eateries. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but not a deal breaker. Myrtle has done a wonderful job of maintaining the property and keeping things "modern". The television and WiFi work as you would expect. Sandy Shores is probably the best place we have ever found and will return here for future vacations! We were greeted by Myrtle as soon as we arrived. She showed us around the entire property which is very well maintained and a beautiful site to walk out to every morning. We stayed in the Patio unit. The unit was very very clean and provided everything that you would need just like staying at your own home. The view was amazing. It is very few steps to the beach. There is a laundry unit on site. We never drove anywhere. Everything is walking distance behind the unit. (2 to 3 min walks) Myrtle was a fantastic host and was there anytime that we needed her and was around just for daily chats. Upon arrival she gave us a thorough tour of the cottage and property. The garden area is beautiful. Myrtle has a supply closet full of beach essentials - chairs, umbrellas, noodles for floating, etc. Our cottage was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels. We had access to an outdoor shower to rinse off and a clothesline to hang swimsuits and beach towels. Every detail was carefully thought out. The beach was just steps away via a private beach access only open to people staying at Sandy Shores. We couldn’t have asked for a better location. The sunsets were stunning. CVS is right across the street for supplies and basic food necessities as well as several restaurants and gift shops all within walking distance. We parked our car when we arrived and didn’t have to move it to drive anywhere. The trolley stop is right across the street if you’d like to venture away some. It even goes to Clearwater. The place was beautiful, very clean, and an amazing location. You really had everything you needed within walking distance. Myrtle was incredibly friendly, very thorough in her tour, and easy to communicate with. I wish we had more time to sit and chat with her. We came for a wedding and were quite busy most days, but that is the one thing I regret, not getting more time to chat with Myrtle. She is absolutely amazing! We had #2, the Patio, and it was perfect for the 2 of us. It had a very comfy king bed and 2 pull out sofas. There was more than enough built-in storage and closet spaces to accommodate all your luggage. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook, open a bottle of wine, and clean up after yourself. Myrtle provided wifi passwords and cable, or you could log into your apps. Even though we came in after 2 very powerful hurricanes, you couldn't tell. She had the place in tip-top shape like nothing happened. Some plants were damaged, but she had new ones placed around, and you could tell she takes great pride in her units and the garden. It was stunning! I can't wait to see it next summer! You have a short paved path, and then you're on the sand of Indian Rocks Beach. What more can I say. You can leave your unit barefooted, walk a few feet, and have your toes in the sand.
