SEA TURTLE NESTING SEASON: The City of Treasure Island hosts nesting sea turtles from May 1 - October 31\. Sea turtles are susceptible to many threats, and we thank our guests for helping us protect these vulnerable animals. The City lighting ordinance forbids direct light sources visible from the beach after dark, with daily fees of up to $500 for violating this ordinance. We recommend pulling the blinds closed in your room if you will have the lights on after dark, or using an indirect light source such as the TV, the lights underneath the kitchen cabinets, or the bathroom lights. Additional ways for beachgoers to help protect sea turtles include: • Removing ALL items, including trash, from the beach each day • Filling in holes and knocking down sandcastles on the beach • Refraining from touching sea turtles or using flash photography We appreciate your partnership in protecting the sea turtles.
