Excellent gym and lap pool.

Posted 7-Feb-2016
Pros: gym and llap pool. that's why we chose it.
Cons: bathrooms!!!!!!
Location: Need a car to go to different beaches.
This is an old, refurbished resort. Bathroom was very small, toilet size appropriate for a preschooler, not an adult. Our view was the parking lot. Bougainvillea Bldg was right next to laundry facility for entire resort. Beeping vehicles backing up in the wee morning hours. Beach is limited.

Nice place, but be prepared to walk or wait!

Posted 1-Feb-2016
Pros: Bed, pillows, & towels all top notch. Furnishings quite nice and the unit was well equipped. Maintenance issues were handled promptly and efficiently.
Cons: Beach towels should be available on site of each pool, not a block and a half away.
Location: There are lots of restaurants and things to do in Simpson Bay, many within 1/2 mile radius.
We stayed here for 2 nights only, and our last day there was spent recovering from a stomach bug. But I must say, this was a great place to recover! When we checked in, I was disappointed to see we were assigned to a unit WAY up in the back of the hotel grounds. But when we got to the room, we found a lovely corner room with a partial ocean view, large patio with chaise and table and 4 chairs overlooking a very large pool and tennis courts. Furnishings were very nice and kitchen was exceptionally well equipped. The bathroom was disappointing and very poorly lit. The toilet was so noisy it sounded like a jet engine when flushed (vacuum toilets, which save tons of water). Be aware that this is a fairly large resort spread out over a hilly property, so you either have to walk up and down hills or wait for the resort shuttle to transport you. We chose to walk mostly rather than wait. There is a pretty good deli on the premises where you can food & supplies. Also had some disappointing experiences at Alexander's and Bon Appetit restaurants (not associated with the resort??)

perfect location

This place was better than expected. The rooms were extremely nice. The location is awesome. Close to tons of restaurants, the beach and casino. If I go back I would not think twice about booking my stay here.

Perfect, walkable location. Small but nice beach

Posted 24-Jan-2016
Pros: Near water sports facility, beautiful 2BR suite, like new. Great pools and restaurants. Perfect to walk to market and restaurants and nightlife
Cons: nothing
Location: Small grocery store on property, larger one in town. Aqua Mania water sports has many excursions that launch on property many restaurants and bars
Upgraded to sea view 2BR suite, newly renovated and I think we were the first to stay here! Brand new everything! We noticed we were missing a coffee pot and a few small kitchen items and handed in our checkin list as we went to dinner. Within seconds of coming back we had a new in box coffee pot and all the items. Great location, walk to market and French bakery across the street, liquor store also next door. Good view from balcony of Marina and front porch view of the ocean. A minute walk to Aqua Mania where all the water sports are. Were given list of daily activities from our concierge Francis, who was so nice! Great dinner at The Stone and Bon Appetite for breakfast. Bring lots of cash for taxis, it's all zoned so no travel less than $25! We were leery about renting a car but it would have been much cheaper! Go to Anguilla on the ferry, $25 up then $28 back, cash only. Best part of the trip! Shoal Bay was gorgeous! Such a friendly island, very safe.

Convenient to sirport

Room quality were standard but very spacious. A little dated and air conditioning were typical island wall units.

Superbe complexe

Posted 15-Jan-2016

Great place away from home

It was a wonderful trip. My room had everything a kitchenette so you don't always have to eat out. Supermarket close by so you can load up on groceries. Staff was accommodating and friendly.

Beach, spacious room but lack knowledge/service

Posted 10-Jan-2016
Pros: The hotel has beach on site, on 2 sides with one protected from the big waves so ideal for our young children to paddle safely on their own.
Cons: Knowledge and helpfulness of your staff. 90% don't know anything about activities or willing to help you search for something, even to call you a cab!
Location: In Cole Bay, opposite the airport (but quite far so not bothered by the noise). Very busy street nearby with all restaurants and shops.
Great views from our rooms and nice functional kitchen. Very useful anti mosquito sliding doors when on the terrace. The resort is uphill so you need to be ready to walk to go in and out. But the main road is literally 5 min away with some great restaurants and shops. There is a supermarket nearby so you can refill there. Water has a strange taste (recycled water) so supermarket useful to buy all the essential. Very disappointing gloomy room (not at all like the pictures). Staff don't know the basics (activities in or out, inform you how the resort works...) you feel that it is a resort more oriented towards the time share clients than normal clients. Shuttle service free in the resort yes, but don't expect any of the drivers to smile or say Hello to you, almost like you are bothering them. Conflicting info about activities, one say you can't the other say you can, ending up wasting time and missing on activities. But worst is that no one would offer you a 'list' of what you can do. We had to mention this and that for them to be like oh yes you can go there. Well thank you since I brought it up, yes I am going as you are not offering me anything else. One staff even told me he can't call us a taxi as he didn't know the pier we were going to. We did enjoy ourselves but this resort didn't help in any of it.

Comfortable Hotel

Posted 10-Jan-2016
Pros: I liked the fact that there are a few restaurants on site as well as a mini mart.
Cons: The shuttle drivers need to be more friendlier and that's only my experience.
Location: On the beach, cinema not too far away as well as various shops. The is a sea shuttle to Phillipsburg which is the main shopping area on the Dutch side
I had a very relaxing stay. The view from my room was breathtaking as it overlooked the ocean with so many beautiful ships. The room amenities were great.
