I never got an email with check in instructions (which Expedia says will happen) and was unable to get ahold of anyone associated with the property. In the end I knocked on the door and another guest opened the door to let me in, and told me about my envelope at the front door. Once inside, everything was great! And the place is super walkable and in a lovely neighbourhood.

Nice little place in the heart of downtown
Nice little place right in the heart of downtown St. John's. Walking distance to George Street, Duckworth Street, and Water Street. Two parking spots in the back.

An old historic guesthouse, however we never met any of the staff, and only saw two other guests fleetingly.

Stairs a problem carrying suitcases but we were advised no elevator. Did not see staff. Breakfast items set out however fruit supply limited, 2 wrinkled apples until last day then an abundance of apples. No sink in eating area so where do you pour leftover coffee? Room Comfortable and fairly quiet area. Close to walking to wharf and eating areas.

The room was a 10/10 bedroom a “ small” bedroom. That was fine. BUT I had to remove the bedding to ensure the “black” things on the bed were not bugs. We found 1 was a small Bug in the bed sheets. The sheets , pillow cases were not washed and stained. The carpet was Filthy and old. Stains/marks on the walls. The bedding was old and Nobby. We removed the bedding and slept on a blanket from our vehicle. The bathroom Sink was covered in hairs from a man’s shave. The Tv had 1 or 2 channels… even old shows had to be ordered. The iron was old and leaked water all over my shirt when I tried to iron it. Just overall the room was a slum….. it ruined our night in the city. We are not people who have extra high expectations but I expect a place to be clean and presentable when you pay $121.00 for a bedroom. My husband is a rotational worker and his comment was “ the camp rooms are cleaner and more presentable. I can only speak for this room but needless to say we will NEVER EVER stay again or recommend it.

These folks stayed with us for one night...one single night. When we came to clean the room after they left, it was literally trashed, a multitude of alcohol bottle thrown everywhere, candy wrappers thrown on floor and bed and everywhere, even Q tips were used and thrown on the floor.Not sure what their real problem is, but the room is clean and functional. Can't scroll for lodging by price and expect the four seasons, but you most likely can expect a clean room.

Great clear notes left with key. Close to Signal Hill and George Street....got screeched in! Good shower in kids room. Great shower in ours...seems right.

I've seen the "coloured" row-houses before, but have now had the opportunity to stay in them! The bed was nice, the accommodations were tight [which was expected] but certainly functional, and the continental breakfast was great [someone topped it off between 10pm and 3am, including fresh milk, biscuits and such!]. Terrific, all around!

Stayed for one evening. After a 12 hour flight we arrived late at night to find that our bed sheets had not been changed. There was visible hair and the sheets were very wrinkled. When I emailed Expedia about the incident they sided with the cleaning staff and ensured me it was clean. Would not stay here again or recommend for others.

The location was good if you want to stay downtown. The room was super small. The pictures on the site definitely did not reflect what it actually was. The shower was very small, there was a hole in the shower head that sprayed water all over the floor; there was only a small table in the corner with one chair so the second person had to sit on the bed. The checkin was fine, we got in late and the instructions that had been emailed prior to were great; but we never seen our host during the stay. I will not be staying here again.

Poor customer service and no bath towels
There was no one on site at any point. The person generally looking after it was away. You were required to phone a caretaker number which always went to voicemail. We arrived to our room with one towel and one face cloth each. Called caretaker # each day to ask if we could either have a clean towel and face cloth each day or if they could leave three more each for the remaining of our stay. Every day I left a message and every day we were there no new towels and no new face cloths. Had to use our same towel for four days and go without a face cloth after the first day. The room is as outdated air conditioner in window had a very strong mildew smell as did the old carpet. I was so stuffed up each morning. If you don’t require good service and have no allergies this place might be okay otherwise avoid.

The place needs updating and a few changes we stayed in rm 1 and the bed was the worst i have seen in a long time.the hall light switch in the unit was outside the door in common hall.that took a little figuring. Tub was chipped coffee only avalible at breakfast and that was pretty skimpy

The property has character and the stairs are numerous if staying in the loft but great view out the window. Excellent location. Would suggest instructions be available for the tv as we could only access one station.

Cleanliness was okay. Toilet seat very loose; I tightened it. Bedside lamp not working. Received a ticket (40$)for night parking during street cleaning. No notice or warning. I am not happy.
