Nestled in an exclusive neighborhood, this beautiful 4 bedrooms home offers comfort and privacy. Located in the hills above Chocolate Hole Bay, on the west side of the island of St John, Villa Catalina provides amazing views that includes St Croix, Rendezvous Bay, Hart Bay and Chocolate Hole. The town of Cruz Bay, center of the activities, is only 7 or 10 minutes away on all paved roads. In the same way, the most beautiful beaches are not further than a 10 minutes ride. This unique island home was built only for vacation rentals purposes and it has a child friendly design. The pool is located in the top floor, right next to the kitchen. One exterior stairway leads to the bedroom and bathroom on the lower level and one deck on the top level and one on the lower surrounds the house. There is also a 4th room with a queen bed on the lower level. The extremely peaceful setting gives this house sufficient privacy for clothing optional sun bathing. Just minutes from the shops and restaurants of Cruz Bay, Villa Catalina is the ideal retreat. Its design and lay out make this villa appealing to families, lovers and honeymooners. Amenities/We take credit card payments: A dramatic roadside leads you to Villa Catalina's courtyard. A large arched door takes you into the dining and living room, where vaulted ceilings, wicker and mahogany furniture, sliding glass doors and lots of tropical accessories gives this area a relaxing Caribbean feeling. Cable TV is provided in this room. The interior dining room table seats six. The modern kitchen is very well equipped for you to enjoy from a small snack to a large gourmet dinner. An outside dining table that seats six and an impressive gas grill are part of the amenities that you will find on the pool deck, together with beach chairs and coolers. Here you can have your morning coffee while you watch the pleasure boats and cruise ships passing by. The bedrooms: Bedrooms - The two exquisite master bedrooms, both with mahogany king size beds, air conditioned and refined décor are located in opposite ends of the villa to gives you more privacy. All bedrooms have sliding glass doors that open to a large deck that surrounds the pool and gives you fantastic views. The elegant tiled bath suits, with delicate accents, create a romantic atmosphere. Lower Level - The lower level of the house features a large bedroom and bathroom, which open into the deck complemented with outside wicker furniture. The bedroom has 2 twin beds that can be easily converted into a king size bed. This bedroom also provides air conditioned comfort. There is also a room with a futon on the lower level. The washer and dryer are located on this level of the house, right next to this area. We always felt very safe. Gorgeous views of Chocolate Hole, a steep one mile hike downhill (not always with sidewalks). This is a great house for two couples. The other two bedrooms are outside and around the house down a set of stairs. One room downstairs was missing a screen door and thus you have to use the AC for air flow. Private location. Tons of lush landscaping and flowers. The two bedrooms on the main floor were very spacious. Great open main living space. Third bedroom with bath downstairs needed to use stairs along side of house to get to it but outside was well lit so that was no problem. It was the perfect spot to relax and so close to the food markets and Cruz Bay as well as to the road to the beaches. The cool breeze was always blowing and only one night we had to put the air conditioning on. The only disappointment we found was in the kitchen. All of the 4 stove top gas jets could not be regulated, all you got was a flame at full blast. And yet we found it took forever to boil a pot of water? The oven worked ok, but think it’s time to replace the stove. There was a shortage of flatware, which we had to have the manager get additional for us. The pots and especially the pans could use an upgrade, perhaps going with teflon to make it easier for guests to clean up. We did discover a delightful beach to swim and snorkel 5 minutes from the villa off East Chocolate Hole Road for those days when you didn’t want to drive up the beach road. ##### Joseph S. The views are as advertised and are outstanding. It's a close drive to the busy and fun Cruz Bay area, and the bedrooms are spacious and beautiful. It's a challenging driveway to navigate but we got used to that and realize now that's just part of staying on the island. The downstairs bedrooms are only accessed via an exterior stair so they felt somewhat disconnected and the kitchen is just a bit dated but overall we loved our stay and would definitely return in the future. Claudia and her support staff are very responsive and courteous and were wonderful hosts. Highly recommended! ##### Patrick G. This is a very comfortable and clean property, we absolutely loved our stay here and will book again when we return to the island! The covered balcony offers a great spot to enjoy the view while eating and escaping the sun, and the deck and pool area are the perfect place to relax after a morning at the beach. Myrtle went above and beyond making sure they got off the ferry and arranged a cab to take them to the grocery store and then up to the house. It was much appreciated to decrease my stress level! The house worked out well for us, having older children, although I was a little worried my 12 year old son wouldn’t want to be so far away in the downstairs bedroom (with no interior entrance to the main house). He was fine though and enjoyed his private room 😊. We had an issue with water and they responded right away. It’s good to know ahead that they advise not to drink the water. My guess is that is the same in most of the rental homes. The view was amazing. It was close to town but far enough away that we felt very private. As for most rentals we saw, be prepared for a very steep driveway! ##### Rebecca B. The water pressure in the showers is low, but this is typical. It was difficult for cabs to get up to us, but we had a rental car, so no problem. We did have a problem with one of the showers, the maintenance person was there and fixed things within an hour. It was so nice to have the grill and tables and chairs on the deck.
