Clean room very basic, no food available in the facilities. Hard to get hold of people at reception. The gym is very small

I was disappointed with our stay at Gloucester Robinswood Hotel. Check-in was very slow, and there were groups of teenagers hanging around the lobby which didn’t create the best first impression. Our room had no air conditioning, which was particularly uncomfortable during the 35°C heat. When I asked at reception for a fan, I was simply told they had all been distributed around the hotel, so there wasn’t one available. As our room was on the ground floor, we couldn’t safely leave the windows open overnight either. The cleanliness of the room was also poor. There were hairs around the toilet, and we found ants on the bed and in the bath. To make matters worse, there was no TV remote in the room, so I had to return to reception. Fortunately, a different member of staff was on duty and was much more helpful. He quickly managed to find us a fan despite being told previously there weren’t any available, and he attempted to resolve the TV issue. As he couldn’t fix it himself, he said maintenance would come to the room, but nobody ever arrived. The only positive aspect of our stay was the second receptionist, who was friendly, helpful and clearly did his best to resolve the issues. Unfortunately, the overall experience was let down by poor cleanliness, uncomfortable rooms, inconsistent customer service and maintenance that never materialised.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting and easy to get to. Our room was well placed in the older part of the hotel and was clean and fresh good facilities and liked the bath and seperate shower fantastic. Iorn/board hairdryer fridge kettle all used good quality and clean. Liked the eco housekeeping only cleaned every 3rd day or if you asked this suited us. However the reception hall we walked through to get to rooms was not clean a party had clealry taken place earlier on in the day so could excuse this a little but by 3rd day still not cleaned up dirty glasses uncleaned floors such a shame as bldg had so much potential. A wet towel sat outside the entrance for 24 hours before anyone moved it. The whole place just lacked some TLC and needed some general maintenance like why do you have screws sticking out of the back of bedside tables, think they are meant to be screwed to wall but clearly werent. Of course this was just our room others may well have been different. Did not find the receptionist on arrival helpful or friendly although when we checked out she was lovely. We had paid for breakfast but did not attend 2nd day as the quality on day 1 was so bad. Go to the garden shed in wellsbourne instead super cafe. The location is perfect easy to reach local areas of interest and nothing too far away. Instructions for arrival clear and concise. The grounds where amazing and well worth a wander round.
