Nice hotel friendly staff
The staff was great. All very helpful from front desk to housekeeping. The room was spacious and comfortable. In room coffee, tea, refrigerator, and tv. Shower was good and hot. Breakfast buffet at additional charge was well appointed with local and western food selection. Hotel had a nice pool that was good since beach was a bit distant but walkable. There were many food places in easy walking from stores, bakeries, food stalls, and restaurants. Area was safe but always be careful. I could easily recommend the Sapphire for leisure, business, or family stays. One must always remember where they are and not compare to home hotles, especially chains. This is not a 5 star but was more than satisfactory for the price. One caveat which is not the fault of hotel; the crows in nearby trees were relentless in sqwaking. Traffic horns made for good competition in volume. Perhaps the hotel could replace windows with newer glass for sound barrier. Otherwise a very nice and well run hotel. I would stay again but ask for a room away from street.

Bathroom in need of an update, a bit worn but clean and functional. Good size room with comfortable beds. Our room was facing a busy street; restaurants and grocers, pharmacy, atm all within a few blocks. Front desk pleasant and restaurantwas good, breakfast (included) very nice and servers were very attentive.

The rooms were smelling with smoke and not cleaned properly. I was also not given teh room I expected first. I had to argue with the staff to get a better room. I was disappointed.

Alright, can find something better
The location of the hotel is on the main street in Colombo. Quite convenient. It is situation in a local neighbourhood that don't have a lot of sight-seeing or tourist spot. The swimming pool of this hotel is alright - clean and quiet except no attendant there for any towel. Security of the hotel could be a concern as all notices have the highlight saying - any property lose is not the responsibility of the hotel. I don't have any valuable lose but it always worried me if my computer or cash inside my suitcase would be lose. Wifi is not reliable. I always take me minutes before getting on a website. Restaurant services is bad. The manager brought me to a table that guests just left after finishing breakfast. The manager simply put away the coffee cup without changing utensils. I never experienced that I have to ask services to put in new utensils as they never recognised it.

Positives: Good service. Clean, large rooms. Comfortable, large bed. Air conditioning worked well. Negatives: Old and tired and in need of refurbishment. Ash trays in all rooms suggesting all rooms are smoking (although no smell of smoke in room). Poor reception on TV channels. No view from room. Expensive hotel restaurant. Limited local restaurants. Hotel restaurant started playing music around 6am which could be heard from bedroom. Wifi generally worked well but stopped working on a couple of occasions.

Wifi every day I have to and update. They said it is not. Toilet Dam, crack and wash basin is cracked. Toilet full of ants and later they moved better room. I came here with some recommendation and I want recommend anyone. Breakfast very little choice. Two nights we stayed in other hotel

In the city and close to stores and eat out places. Clean and maintained. Good service at the front desk and other staffs are polite. Washroom tiny for the room side. But overall, decent for the price.

Good hotel I went with my elderly mother they were very helpful and when ever we need room service we got it within 5 minutes. They even specially made few items specially for our need for breakfast very pleased and enjoyed the stay very friendly staff.

Hotel situated next to 24hr supermarket. Lots of tuktuk nearby.One block from beach. Water pressure very good, lots of hot water. Staff very friendly, checked in very late but no problems. Lovely pool and surrounds. Very clean and spacious rooms. Restaurant does wide variety of food and very tasty. Breakfast is good, western and Indian. Eggs cooked to order. Gym looked ok but we never used it. Would highly recommend.
