Each time I go to Crabtree falls I try to go to the orchard, but this is not always possible because the store is closed during the winter for offseason. I also have never actually gone apple picking, but instead go inside the store and buy the already picked apples. The majority of the times I have visited, there is live bluegrass music. Different kinds of preserved canned foods line many shelves in the store. Homemade fudge is sold, as well as ice cream. During the fall parking can be rough, since it is peak leaf and apple season. This picture captures the vastness of the Appalachian region in my eyes: the life present, the rich colors, and the visibility of the mountains far away. Everything was as expected and I was contacted before, during and after our stay. I didn’t have any issues or needs but it was nice knowing they were there for us if we did need them. The property manager uses a generic information packet. Many things did not apply to this listing, such as hot tub and no dogs allowed. The only issue we had was that the out door water spigots had the water turned off and we needed to wash our dog's paws off. We were able to get that resolved. It was a beautiful place with a great spot to go down to the river. I felt the total cost for 3 nights was high compared to comparable VRBO's we have stayed at. ##### Rob L. Aug 24, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy was pleasantly surprised that all was exactly as advertised. perhaps the only thing that wasn't clear to me was the steep hike down to the river thus steep hike back to the house!! fortunately we are both very fit. they DO say you need a 4 wheeler or all wheel to access river but i thought that meant if you were unloading a canoe or bunch of kayaks. the house was impeccable. the river, in spite of the ravages of helene a year ago, was also beautiful and clean. you do get A LOT of communications (texts/emails) from rental company-- way more than what i needed as they had a tendency to be redundant--but i guess that's better than no communications. its a bit expensive but worth it. ##### Julia c B.
