Checked into a queen suite. There was a cashew visible under the edge of the couch as i walked in; A used washcloth hanging on the top shower curtain rail; A big hairball tumbleweed on the bathroom floor; Another hair when i pulled back the sheets on the bed. The previous coffee pod was still in the room coffee maker. Ice machine was broken, no sign to indicate as much. No coffee in the lobby, just an empty pot.

Located downtown Springfield, short walking distance to attractions. Hotel was clean and offered free hot breakfast. My room was cold, no heat came throughout the vent. Coffee machine in room didn’t have a coffee pot. Asked for a late check out on a Sunday and was given only 30 minutes later.

The room I was given hadn’t been cleaned from former guests (towels on floor, beds unmade, etc). When I came back downstairs to ask for a clean room I discovered other guests had the same issue. In the room I stayed in the tv didn’t work and it was pretty run down. There were 10 people (8 rooms) in our group and all but 1 had a terrible experience. I do NOT recommend this property to anyone, even if it was inexpensive (which it was not).

Arrived to be told there was no room available despite having a reservation, transferred to another hotel which also had no room, then brought back to this one an hour later to finally have a room. Overall the hotel itself was nice, but the experience was not.

When we arrived we were told there wasn’t a room for us and we were sent to another hotel. (Which felt like a cheaper hotel, which the air and toilet did not work) also the new hotel did not include breakfast, which was one of the main reasons we booked the first hotel.

We went to check in @315pm, were told the room wasn't ready yet. We left and came back @530pm, our room still wasn't ready! We reserved a suite, they ended up putting us in a queen. Highly dissatisfied

I did not appreciate coming back to my room for the second night and discovering no maid service. When I asked about it I was told I had to request maid service. No fridges in room and no hair dryers. Bare bones, but not bare bones price.

Arrived at 6:45 pm to check in. The lobby was full of guests waiting to check in. One guest had been waiting over 2 hours. I was told my room was being cleaned. I asked for a refund because I had surgery early the next morning and needed to prep. That desk employee left and said she was going to go and check with the cleaning lady. Meanwhile, another desk lady said she found a room for me after I told her what had happened and I wanted a refund and a new hotel.

Would never stay at this hotel again. Front desk person was put out just by asking her if we could check in early, that is after waiting about 8 minutes for someone to finally come around to the front desk. When we were able to check in hours later, there were no towels in the bathroom and no pillow cases on the pillows. My wife went down to the front desk to inquire about getting these items. The gentleman behind the desk told my wife that he would just move us to the room next door after he made sure all was in order. Once again the lady behind the front desk, very snippy said, "I'm sure they are already settled." She did not want to have to move from behind the desk. We moved to the new room after confirming all was in order. It was.... until the next day when I went to make coffee in the room and the used coffee filter from prior guests were still in the coffee maker. No telling how long that was in there. Sunday morning, the first time I tried to check out I was told by a lady behind the counter that she did not know how to use the computer. I told her I would come back. I came back several hours later and requested from the man behind the desk for a receipt. He said his printer was not working but he could email me my receipt. I'm still waiting for that....NOT! Breakfast was atrocious! NO silverware, no coffee, place was messy, no butter for bagels, no milk for cereal and no one around to ask for anything. Never again at this place.

No greeting from the staff, and had to wait to 5:00pm to check in. I understand they might be short staffed, but a simple smile and “sorry for the wait,” would have solved this problem. On a positive note, the room was very clean. I heard from several guests that the hotel had no breakfast for them the previous morning. Apparently the food services never showed up? I hope these quests were given a discount.

We were woke up at 12:30 in the morning from a neighbor’s room with their tv very loud we were not able to sleep until front desk called and asked to turn off loud tv. The front desk did try and knock on the door of the noise but they did not answer, we were grateful they called so we could get a few hours of sleep.

The breakfast that was offered was cold due to no sternos lit under the chafing dishes. Plates, bowls, cups, and flatware was not stocked. When we told the front desk they did nothing about it. The staff was rude and didn't seem to care about their jobs. The place looked nice, but having staff that doesn't care doesn't help.

The hotel was nice but the elevator needed to be cleaned. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Short staffed but that is everywhere these days.

Good stay overall
Over all good experience. About two blocks from the train tracks and heard every train go by. The mattress could use a pillow topper. Very hard. The shower curtain was about 4 inches short of the shower pan. All of the water running off of the curtain went on the floor outside of the shower.

Bad odor!!
From the moment we walked into this hotel we could smell marijuana, then we got keys to a dirty room. So we got a new room on the top floor.We smelled this the entire time plus the bathroom smelled like sewer, unless it was just another kind of bad smelling marijuana. The staff was kind and the place looked good but will never stay again.

We got a king suite room and there was no heat in the room so we went down and told them we wanted another room and they gave us another room that had no heat in it so when I called and complained, she said well we’ll send our maintenance man to check it in the morning so we had to stay all night with no heat

This stay was very disappointing. The hotel had only 19 rooms occupied, but they put us in a room with a shared door with someone else. The walls are thin. We heard them coughing all night and we heard their early morning alarm (which evidently they did NOT hear) because it went on for a good 10 minutes. The breakfast was very disappointing too. Rubbery eggs, half cold biscuits, and very weak coffee.

What a disappointment
Reviews and pictures of the State House Inn gave an inaccurate description of the hotel's quality. The hotel was needs updates. The hallways show signs of where artwork used to hang with holes and chipped paint left to look at. There are signs of missing or removed hallway tables. For as empty as the hotel was, the hallways should look vacuumed and free of debris but are not. The room itself is missing various pieces of furniture. The tv is cracked in the bedroom and the remote is missing batteries. One of the lamps doesn't work or the bulb is burnt out. The room is void of extra bedding & pillows for the pullout sofa bed and I had to ask the front desk for a hairdryer. The grout on the tub and bathroom floor is discolored and looks dirty. One weird thing- our room was completely unlocked when we arrived and I noticed at least 5 more open (no exaggeration, I counted). Breakfast was lukewarm and not good tasting. The coffee was TERRIBLE, probably the worst cup I've ever had. The dining room was also sad with evidence of missing tvs or artwork on the wall, one wall lined with extra chairs. The 2 or 3 people we interacted with were pleasant and friendly. Overall, I wish we would have stayed somewhere else or drove home early.

The first room we were given after checking in was not cleaned and smelled bad with dead coach roaches on the floor. The staff was nice and after we told them about the situation immediately transferred us to another room which was fine. Breakfast could use some improvement in how things are cooked like the bacon. Breakfast supposed to be from 7-10am but everything was cold and not much food left when we went to it at 9am so that was kind of a bummer. I’ve stayed at this property before and remembered it was better, not sure what happened this time.
