Full of asylum seekers!
Stayed here loads before covid for work so i didn’t bother to check the reviews and what a mistake. The hotel is being used to house asylum seekers who have made this their home by using the the corridors as children's play areas (a bike race at 10pm) with screaming kids and adults arguing. With nowhere for children to play, this is clearly not the right hotel to house a family for months. Breakfast was a disaster because as soon as food comes out, the asylum seekers take everything. NOT the fault of the asylum seeks as it must be difficult raising a family in a hotel room however paying £80 to get no sleep is not fair and the hotel should not be open to the public or at least give you a choice and warn you. The staff are great here and do a good job in very difficult situations such as i heard an asylum seeker screening at the receptionist.

Worst stay ever
Our stay was terrible, the hotel is full of imigrants, children running up and down corridor and room propped open, the place is so run down, rooms were unclean, remote didnt work, some toiletries were empty, stain in bathroom and mould and marks on walls in bedroom ,lamp shades all split, noise from road.

Was woken up by phone, when not for me, also by staff entering room at 11.30 at night, they were not given informaion about it being occupied. Bit worring, the girl on desk next morning appoligised Children running around in corridoors till very late, if stayex again would like quieter area.

Hotel looks lovely and new, however stains in carpets, drawings on walls, heating coming on through the night as timer had been messed with. The hotel had just recently reopened and staff although very helpful were still getting used to the online system. Decided to have our evening meal there only one menu no children's menu although the staff told us what was available for him, and the food was lovely, couldn't have the drinks we wanted as the drinks machine hadn't been gassed however the staff were very helpful, so had a laugh about it. Beds were comfortable and clean but with the heating coming in made it very uncomfortable night, bathroom big as was the shower. Breakfast was a nightmare, kids carrying trays full of everything saw one table with 5 full overflowing trays not a problem with that, we had some cearel and went to look at the cooked breakfast to find 2 slices if bacon and nothing else even though it had been mentioned to staff that it was running out, by the time it was cooked we'd had enough waiting around and left. We were planning another couple if visits but security guards all over the place breakfast running out not been able to have the drinks we actually wanted I don't think we'll be back. Confused about the security guards why are they needed, why did the breakfast run out ? Although the staff were lovely 3 staff to do the cooking and front of house definitely not enough

Unfortunate situation
The Staff really tried their best to help, the room wasn't clean, the heating was broken but they provided a radiator, poor receptionist was rushed off her feet but it felt really uncomfortable staying in a Government Holding Facility, additional security was off putting and it felt I was intruding into people's homes, not their fault but not my choice either, very sad situation.

The hotel is homing refugees who have NO respect for staff or guests the children run up & down the hall jumping off bed and riding bikes in hotel halls colliding With guests if you knock on there door to ask to keep it down they just smile & close the door the staff also ask them to keep the noise down but they don’t care should you stay ( I will never use holiday inn again )you will be hard pushed to get breakfast as the women load up trays with food and take it up to there rooms.l would like to say I not a raciest & ever one deserves a good life but as a worker I need sleep and a breakfast

We do have a language barrier with some of our guests which we are attempting to overcome. We do ask our guests to be mindful of others at breakfast and to leave enough for everyone but sadly, this cannot always be monitored. Again, I am sorry for your troubles.

Very disappointed!!
Staff pleasant and friendly given the circumstances. Unfortunately hotel is being used for the government to house refugees, and they are leaving the communal areas as a dumping ground. I was not informed to any of this prior to my booking. It says a lot when the hotel has to have 24hr security patrolling the reception area. No hot meals served on site the day of my arrival, again not advised of this. Thankfully there is a restaurant across the road. Breakfast is buffet help your self.

The hotel operates on a evening meal menu which is run from 18:00 to 21:00, i am very sorry that you was unable to have a meal on the first day of your stay. We do not offer a lunch service as the time of check in starts from the afternoon. However the corridors of the hotel are checked regularly and we sorry that this was not up to our standards during your stay, In addition this cannot always be monitored at all times but this will be followed up with more floor walks I am sorry for your troubles and we hope to welcome you back in the near future

In need of love and attention
Greeted by security staff. Found out later that hotel is hosting families for the home office. Wasn’t happy and did not feel safe. Did not sleep first night and left a day early. Still waiting for refund. Furniture in room very tired and abused. Lobby downstairs carpets and furniture very used and abused. We stayed here 5 years ago and loved it - sad decline and won’t be staying again.

Disappointing for brand holiday inn
Plastic knives and forks at breakfast was the final straw… had to ask for scrambled eggs and bacon! Should have. Even warned about hotel usage for refuges as security was everywhere. N ok t pleasant stay at all… never going back!! Holiday Inn never agsin

Excellent parking. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Would have prefered more of a hot choice for breakfast but the continental was good. Not enough space in the breakfast area.

Didn’t end up staying at this hotel. It was full of Afghan Refugees with children running riot, in and out of the lift, urinating in the corridor and the adults being aggressive and abusive.

Arrived for a 2pm check in. Room wasn’t ready. Apparently short staffed. Had a 45 minute wait. Not happy as had an event to attend which we needed to get showered and changed for hence we were late. Bathroom wasn’t clean. No tea or coffee in our room. Did complain but were told nothing could be done as booked through Hotels.com Breakfast this morning was very busy and a wait to get in

Outside of hotel needs a clean up as we were greeted by cigarette ends and lots of litter by the entrance. Staff were lovely and very friendly and couldn’t be faulted. Check in was easy. When we got to our floor the lift door opened and we were surprised at the state of the carpet, it was all warped and made be floor uneven. The carpet had marks on from where suitcases had been pulled along and it was obvious the carpet was very dated and needed to be replaced. When we got to our room it seemed clean but on closer inspection of the bathroom we found lots of long hairs everywhere which we didn’t understand why they hadn’t been removed as they were very obvious. First nights stay was ok but the doors do not keep the noise out and we could hear every single conversation as people walked past as there is a gap under the door to our room which let a lot of noise in. Some young men decided to let off a what sounded like a fire extinguisher late on too. The second night was terrible. We had been to Alton Towers that day and looked forward to a nice rest which wasn’t the case, the person above us must have been Nelly the Elephant in the middle of moving furniture because the stomping and banging was horrific and did not stop. Even if we had rang down to reception - what could they have done? We then had people opposite us CONSTANTLY banging on their door. I’m guessing they were locked out on several occasions. The knocking was soo loud it woke me up 3 times. Didn’t sleep well at all.

Would avoid next time
Had to have a room change as beds for my children weren't made up and room was dirty and mold in the bathroom. Second room needed maintenance as lights weren't working and again mold in the bathroom air vent.

Enjoyed our stay in Rotherham.
Very nice hotel near to a lovely big lake which was great to walk around. Great pub nearby with tremendous value food and drinks. We have been to 3 different Holiday Inn Express’s in the last 3 days. All were good but this was the best one of all.

Very disappointing stay, the hotel itself whilst generally clean is very grubby and needs decorating, on the day the air conditioning was not working, lifts broken. Window sound insulation insufficient to silence the adjacent road - it was like sleeping in a lay-by. Staff friendly and polite only positive, but can’t make up for poor nights sleep.

Baddest stay experience ever. A waste of money
I don’t know wheee to start but all I know is holiday inn is definitely off my list of go to hotels Everything was just appalling Ac wasn’t working The rooms were like a furnace Bed cover dirty until I asked for a change Breakfast was nonsense should have just gone out to have a better one Staff rude and hotel was under staffed. What happened to holiday inn? The top bosses are just rolling in the money No supervision No monitoring It wasn’t a stay free hotel ans for the money paid it’s is far too disappointing and I vowed never to use holiday inn ever again.

Hi Lola, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review on your most recent stay with us. I am very sorry to hear that you would not return to our hotel. I would like to start by apologising about the air conditioning not working, this was an issue we were faced with over the weekend and wasn't able to fix straight away. It was actually myself who checked you in on that day, I understand that it was completely last minute about letting you know that the air con had gone down but I did not have time to get in touch before your arrival. I feel I tried my best to make sure you was happy with the room considering the circumstances, I was under the impression you was happy with staying at the hotel as you checked the rooms before any payment was made and was happy with the fact that one of the rooms felt cool so thought the air con may be working and the other had a fan. As we are usually busy with family's on the weekend and the air con had not just gone down in your rooms but other family rooms I was stuck with any other solution than to go ahead with the payment or not charge and help you find another hotel. In regards to breakfast I am unsure as to what the problem was, all of your requests were met with what you had asked for the night before. I do apologise if you thought myself or my colleagues were rude, this was not intentional at all and I am very sorry if we made you feel that we were being rude towards you. Service above and beyond.
The staff were amazing, we had a problem with the room and the staff were happy to help and get the problem sorted out. We had a fantastic night sleep.

Great location, plenty of parking, clean hotel. Very noisy at front of hotel if your is above smoking shelter. Dinner was terrible but maybe due to covid-19 times. Overall an okay stay.

Excellent location poor breakfast
Chicken was quick and efficient the room was lovely and clean we paid extra to stop at this place because they did breakfast unfortunately their breakfast was very disappointed we received a squashed cold sausage sandwich for an extra £17 very disappointed with the breakfast a real letdown.

In regards to the breakfast I am unsure as to why you have stated that you had paid an extra £17 as the breakfast costs no extra it is always included in the rate. This is the first time we have had a complaint about the sandwiches being cold in a very long time, we try our very best to provide some form of hot option for guests as you cannot get this at many other hotels but I will pass over your comments to the team to see if we can try something different for the future. Tired but okay
Rooms are looking very tired and could do with a spruce up. It was clean though. Bed not the most comfortable but fine for one night stay. The only staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. Didn't use the restaurant as there is a pub and supermarket opposite so cannot comment on that. Overall okay.
