Expected a bit more from a 4* hotel. Especially from the staff. In middle of night had go outside my room cause there were people shouting. We could hear people talking almost like if they were inside our room. Children running and knocking at the door. Every morning no one from reception asked how has it been our stay if was everything alright. Even from the restaurant. Maybe I created false expectations but I couldnt expect less from a 4* hotel. Also our room was a bit dusty.

Rosedene Guest House

"Lovely guest house"
I stayed at Rosedene Guest House in Hodgeston on a 3 day midweek break. The guest house was easy to find using my sat nav which conveniently announced my arrival immediately beside a sign board to Rosedene on the main road. A word of warning - my sat nav directed me down a maze of single track roads - it is actually easier to go to the outskirts of Pembroke and use the sat nav from there as the route is better. There are parking bays for 4 cars which was quite adequate whilst I was there. The guest house is very well presented, being spacious, well decorated and nicely furnished. My room, Room 1, had a very nice en-suite, a sitting area and doors onto a semi-private patio. I received a very nice welcome from Tracey who was a very pleasant hostess. I had pre-booked an evening meal (advisable) for my first night and because I was very impressed I also ate at Rosedene on the 2 subsequent nights. Note that alcoholic drinks are not provided but I was welcome to bring in my own drinks. Breakfasts are substantial and of the highest standard. There are many local sites of interest to suit most tastes - castles, vineyards, beaches, country walking and lots more. Thoroughly recommended.

"Nice pub, Friendly staff,Good food "
We had Room 1 a Double room, overlooking the valley from one window and the garden from the other window,we had stayed here before, and will stay again, The bed and pillows are firm, Good full Welsh breakfast,We had evening dinner on our first night, The slice of homemade steak and kidney pie, with fresh vegetables was Really good, I would recommend this pub for evening meals, prices are also very good. Caldicot Castle and village are only 1.1/2 miles away, and well worth a visit, entry is free unless there is an event on, it has lots of lovely walks within the grounds and dogs are welcome.

"Interesting hotel, nice views from breakfast room"
Stayed one night on business. Staff were helpful, good breakfast cooked to order. Hotel has good access to main road into Cardiff but is set back on a long drive so feels like a rural location.
