Hotel in good location BUT, entrance area BAD.
Entrance hall devoid of 'warmth'. You have to PUSH hard thro 2 big doors to get to foyer. With a bad shoulder, I was not happy. No flowers or comfortable sofas, chairs visible. Lift very 'commercial'. Bedroom not 'inviting'. Beds looked like 'kids' beds they way they were made up, casual. The window sill paint all broken, curtain had a 'lump' of material missing, right in the middle of curtain. No light over or on worn, old, used sideboard which held a telephone that was 'dead'. No guide how to work tv. Went to reception to ask for help, manager came up with me. Plugs had been unplugged. Bathroom dirty tiles on wall, extractor fan so loud you used it in the dark! I can send photos. Big burned patch in ironing board. I HAD BOOKED FOR TWO NIGHTS AND LEFT AFTER ONE, losing my money on the second night.

Hotel is not that close to Dublin Port of the City
Directions to the hotel were not easy to follow. We rang the hotel and gave a few landmarks as to where we were including a supermarket and filling station, none of which were known to the hotel staff. When we eventually found the hotel, which is actually in Blackrock, the supermarket and filling station was literally just 200 meters away!!! Room was a good size and beds were comfortable. Didn’t hVe breakfast as we had an early Ferry to catch and the hotel was much further away from the port than we were led to believe.

Not as nice as the adverts suggest
Grey and dull from the outside, clearly needs at least a paint job. Staff managed to smile at least. Wasn't overly keen on walking into the room and being greeted by a squished spider on the wall. Other than that, the breakfast was low performance, there wasn't even milk or butter on the tables. Quality of food wasn't great either.

Staff were lovely Hotel was cheaply furnished- plastic like sofas in the reception area Rooms were very run down- frayed curtains chairs and bed bases. Well located hotel in need of refurbishment
We stayed in the Tara Towers hotel as it is located quite close to UCD. We parked in the hotel car park, availing of the last space - I could see that parking might be an issue on a very busy night. The staff member on reception checking us in was excellent - a young man. The bedroom was spotless as was the bathroom, and perfect for a one night stay. There was no food available in the hotel that night (we had checked in at 10 pm) and we went off to a local pizza place and got a takeaway which the hotel recommended. Lots of people were eating from this takeaway in the general shared relaxing area that night, so it seemed to be the hotel's way of dealing with late night food requests. The next morning we went to the breakfast room which was a let-down. The food was okayish, not hot enough, the décor very dated, the carpet grotty, the playlist depressing. Instead of leaving the hotel feeling great, we left saying "well, it did for the night, but not a place to return to". The price was E142, including breakfast, which is very competitive for Dublin in the high season, but in reality this hotel has nothing special to offer and needs investment and a professional manager to address its shortcomings.

Had to change rooms.Tv didnt work, nor did the phone.Double glazing foggy, could hardly see out of the window.Carpet dirty. View terrible. Second room only ok.Curtains falling off rail in places.Slept ok. Woken by bin lorry.

This is an older hotel that is showing her age quite a bit, however, the room was very clean and well stocked with tea and supplies. The staff was a pleasure! I had a beachside room on the top floor with a lovely view of the beach and sunrise each morning. There's a bus stop just out front where I was dropped off by the airport bus and then returned to the airport when I left. Nice location that was close to UCD and everything I needed/wanted to do. I would most definitely stay here again!

Pleasant hotel ruined by the PUB food!
Experienced a lovely stay and excellent value breakfast, but the PUB meal (Fish and Chips) was an absolute disgrace: cheap and small piece of "reformed" battered "fish" and poor quality chip,s peas and sauce. I real disappointment, they should be embarrassed to even serve such rubbish. Would recommend a trip down the coast to Dalkey for amazing dining options and prices equal to the on site PUB.

The hotel was very comfortable with pleasant staff and a pub serving food within the building. I enjoyed my stay very much, there are bus stops to the city and coast right outside the hotel and the Dart station at Booterstown is only 5 minutes walk away. The only slight niggles I had were that the curtain in my room was loose and would not completely close, and that one morning I was woken at 5.15 by a massive noisy truck right outside the window collecting the bins. But overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again

The Hotel while being staffed by cheerful and helpful staff the fabric of the place needs a lot of TLC. The whole building clearly hasn't been painted or redecorated for quite some time. Very clean and pleasant staff though.

Nice Hotel
We had a amazing experience. We were in the middle of a storm and the Manager came to work on Sunday March 18 to make sure everyone was safe. He even helped us catch the blue bus to the airport. Breakfast was very good and the staff was amazing, always ready to help us.

Helpful staff. Great breakfast.
Stayed here for one night to attend a rugby match. The hotel is in a good central location and is also served by the Aircoach. The decor is a bit tired, but that didn’t bother us. We booked breakfast and it was excellent. The staff were very helpful and took a parcel for a non-resident friend who’d left something behind.

Great hotel, very near Blackrock Clinic, which is what I needed. Declan was outstanding and couldn’t do enough for us. The only downside was how hot room was and we couldn’t control heat. Otherwise, would definitely stay again as there was a great atmosphere.

Comfortable hotel
Tara Towers is kind of an unassuming gem. The rooms are very large and quiet, especially the ones at the back. Staff is really friendly and the restaurant has good food. I stayed there a few times when I was in Ireland and came to like it very much. You need to take a bus to the city center if you don't have a car, but the bus stop is very close.

We will happily return upon our next visit home
As has been previously stated, this is a slightly shabby hotel, but the staff was excellent and the accommodations fit our needs perfectly...and at the right price! Quite frankly, we only ever need a good bed and good bathroom/shower and that is what we got. In addition, walking distance to one of Dublin's oldest pubs where we had an excellent dinner (The Old Punchbowl). We will happily return to this hotel upon our next visit home.

Although the hotel is a bit outside Dublin city center, there is a bus stop right in front of the door. As we could not find a restaurant close by, we were glad the groundfloor pub offered good pub food. The sounds/noises from other rooms were rather distrubing.
