Hot tub is always on (we don't turn it off). Please be aware that given the hot tub water could be changed as needed, the mountain water is extremely cold and it will take 10-12 hours to heat up and longer in winter time. In that case, it maybe not hot enough when you check in in the afternoon and you may not enjoy the hot tub on the 1st night (if we drain the water that day). No need to change the hot tube temperature settings. The shower handle can be a bit tricky—turning it to the maximum actually makes the water colder. While we don't supply firewood for the fire pit, there are numerous places to buy it on the side of the road on the honor system (bring cash) or at local gas stations/carry-outs. Please prepare for mosquitos in summer time. Environment Notice: Our home is nestled in nature, and occasionally, 'nature' finds its way inside. We make efforts to control pests with professional services, however, we cannot totally exterminate the bugs/rodents. We try our best to get rid of them and appreciate guests’ understanding. As we coexist with the environment, we kindly request keeping doors closed to minimize encounters. Our drive way is flat and short. We provide snow removal for snowfall over 3 inches. The county crew plow the paved road well in snow days. Our cabin uses well water, typical for the Hocking Hills area. It may have a natural odor since it's not treated with chlorine like city water. Bottled water can be purchased at a gas station or grocery, and we provide a filtered pitcher for your convenience. Since our cabin is nestled beside a scenic creek and Hocking Hills weather can be unpredictable, occasional flooding may occur following heavy rain or severe weather. The water usually recedes within a few hours, allowing things to return to normal quickly. We loved being able to cook a nice meal together, enjoy the hot tub, and relax on the front porch and read or just enjoy the birds and horses across the street. Everything was very clean when we arrived and all of the kitchen amenities were easy to find and use. The balcony was well maintained and secure, but I would be nervous with very small children, so that would be something to take in to consideration when booking. It was bitterly cold outside so we wondered if it would be hot enough but 102 was great! I'm glad she warned us about the cloudiness of the water.We were also glad to see that the firepit was covered.
