very nasty hotel
the hotel looks like it is going to fall down anytime. when we arrived a push lawn mower and weed eater were in the lobby. the area behind the desk was cement and looked under repair but pretty sure there were no repairs taking place. went to the room and the cleaning crew was smoking in a non smoking room. was very shocked that Travelocity put us in this place. very disappointed is not strong enough. we may never use Travelocity again because of there recommendation of this hotel.

Sleepless Saturday, Quieter Sunday
The best features were the HOT water, bathub, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, comfy mattresses, and clean sheets. The worst was the noise on Saturday night, well into the wee hours of the morning...banging doors, voices, car engines starting, horns blasting, trains. We didn't sleep the first night, Saturday until about 4:00 A.M., although we went to bed at 10:30 P.M. The smell of the stale cigarette smoke was overwhelming and went home with us on our clothing and luggage. There were large scary cobwebs in the upper wall corners. The entry door had huge gaps in the frame sides, but thankfully it wasn't Winter and the room was warm. The front curtains don't cut the strong light just outside the big window, on the top and bottom of the glass, so the light was very sleep-disturbing.

Note: this is not actually, a Knights' Inn, as far as I can tell. The building is not what is pictured in the Expedia listing. Street signs all read "Economy Inn." I checked in and drove to my assigned room in the back building. The parking lot was littered with garbage, and there pieces of broken furniture outside my room door. Inside the room stank of animal urine and the bed covers were ripped. My air conditioner looked smashed and was missing the cover. I ended up spending extra and booking another room at a different hotel. Save your money, and book somewhere else.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
Forst of all this isn't a Knight's Inn. It is now an Economy Inn. in the lobby there are signs everywhere that refunds are not given. If I didn't already pay in the app, I would have turned around immediately. I had to then also sign a paper saying no refunds. The front desk had no information about my Expedia reservation. They gave me a room eventually which had no tv, holes in the wall, the heating unit had no knobs, and the toilet was full and did not flush. See my pictures for further proof. Absolute nightmare! We left and wasted our $50.

Short, not so sweet.
The room was clean & smelled nice. The toilet had a bad habit of moving when I sat down (no, I am not a heavy person). Also, there was a huge gap between the door & doorframe and we had to stuff towels in it to keep the cold air out & it was snowing the night of March 22nd. The mattress left a lot to be desired as it was quite lumpy.

would never recommend this hotel
Bathroom so dirty we would not use the shower. Faucets, toilet, everything leaked. the toilet was so bad we eventually turned off the water source at night. The refrigerator was so loud we unplugged it at night.

The walls had holes in them-there were bugs in the bathroom-the toilet moved every time you used it. The beds looked like they were from the 1950's. For the amount of money it cost to stay there, I was disgusted by what I saw. The TV was old and only worked some time.

STAY AWAY, THIS HOTEL IS TERRIBLE!
This Hotel is TERRIBLE !!! The first room was bad, the bath tub had scum all over it, the second room, which the front desk said was "just cleaned", had feces in the toilet! Worst place I have ever seen.

Felt like something was crawling on me the entire
Thought out may be an hourly hotel. Shower and rest room very nasty. Stayed for two days only cause I had to. Probably will sleep in car next time before I stay there again

Trap House in the Ghetto
This was probably the most interesting stay I've ever had away from home. I stayed in South Bend for the night t osee the football game at ND, it was a last minute thing so this was the closest available place to crash. We saw A LOT of interesting looking people wandering around the hotel all through the night. It made us feel uneasy at times but we obviously survived and got to the game. Half the lights in the room were burnt out and the shower and ceiling was affected with a great deal of water damage as well, so if your strictly looking for a roof then this is the place, all in all I would certainly avoid this place, but if it's last minute and have no choice just tough it out.

HOTEL IN QUESTIONABLE AREA
WE HAD BOOKED FOR THREE NIGHTS. THE FIRST TWO NGIHTS DRUNKS AND ROWDIES WERE MINGLING OUTSIDE THE MOTEL DOORS IN THE WEE HOURS, AND THE POLICE HAD TO COME. MOTEL IS LOCATED IN A VERY QUESTIONABLE AREA AND NOISE AND DISTURBANCES ARE APPARENTLY QUITE COMMON. WE LEFT AFTER THE SECOND NIGHT, FORFEITING THE THIRD NIGHT DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS.

Proximity to ND for football weekend is where value is. Clean & convenient. Would have been better if OU didn't whip our az.

the room was clean but the motel must be fifty years old. ND game that weekend and this was the only placed to stay under 350.00. okay for a one night stay. motel just put up a sign for weekly rates - this is not a good sign.

The worse hotel I ever seen
I checked in and look around the room. The roof by the bathroom was falling off. The bedding were dirty, the room smells terrible. I went out and called expedia and let them know I will not stay in this hotel. It looks like it's unsafe to sleep inn.

No frills but fine
We stayed two nights and our room was fine. It was quiet and clean, the beds were comfortable, the A/C, TV, shower, toilet and sink all worked. I needed an iron, and the front desk provided one. The neighborhood is a commercial strip, with other hotels and fast food joints. The staff was friendly. We didn't try the continental breakfast. The room wasn't cheap, because it was graduation weekend, but it was a better deal than anywhere else in town.

Worst experience I have ever had at a hotel!!!!!
I hated every minute I was on the property. They took no care whatsoever of the establishment. Holes in the walls. Really bad patch jobs. The beds were bowed so badly I think they were the original beds (BOTH). It smelled in the room. The door didn't completely lock. The shower plumbing pulled away from the shower wall. The rug had nasty stains. My son was afraid to take off his shoes. The awning of the hotel had big rips you could see from the street and a poor patch job with duct tape. I would be embarrassed to have my company associated with a hotel that clearly didn't have respect for themselves.

At 66 years old it is hard to believe that staying at the EconoLodge in South Bend last weekend was the worst hotel experience of my life. Plus it was so expensive given it was a Notre dame home football weekend. The people were nice, but the accommodations were terrible and EXTREMELY dated.

An older 60s motel that is nicely suited for an ND football weekend
This hotel provides basic, satisfactory accommodations that give you a convenient location near campus for a football weekend. The hotel earns extra points for a helpful staff who were competent and quick to offer directions and local discount coupons. The location is also an advantage, in SW South Bend, just about 3 miles from campus, going north on 31. The motel was a location last-minute solution when I needed a simple room where my son and I could dump our bags and flop when we were at ND for an admissions visit and a football game. Nothing luxurious, but the room was clean (even if a bit ragged), the beds were fine, the shower good and hot, and there's free internet. I'd stay there again, so long as I'm looking for simple, convenient and practical accommodations.

First room had a burn hole in comforter and broken lights so they moved us, second room we walked in and one bed was not made and there was a used condom lying on the other, then the 3rd room we settled for but carpet was dirty. By far the worst hotel experience ever.

If you just need a place to sleep for a few hours, this will do. The room was a little shabby: peeling wallpaper in spots, what I think were old cigarette burns on the edge of the tub, but clean enough and no bugs. It's in a "bad" neighborhood, but I knew that beforehand. At least, the area has a local reputation for being "bad," "unsafe," or whatever you want to call it. I'm from South Bend originally, and I never had problems in that regard in this area. Would I stay there again? Probably.

I just needed a place to rest for the night and the Econo Loldge provided jjust that. It was no frills but I didn't expect any, so it was right for the price. One problem, someone with a more sensitive noise would not have stayed because of the smell of the room, especially after I turned on the air condition. If you can fix that problem along, you will get higher ratings. Thanks. The room served its purpose, which I was happy about.

TERRIBLE hotel...
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in my entire life. The lady at the front desk has a terrible attitude. The hotel phone did not work my entire trip so I had to walk to the front desk each time I had any question or any requests. No iron or ironing board, unless you request one from the front desk. The owner is pleasant but his wife is the one with the horrible attitude. I will NEVER stay at this hotel ever again.

Older place, in need of some upkeep. Bathroom sink was clogged. Shower head was cracked and sprayed up on the cieling, then back down on you. Told the staff and it was replaced that day. If you're looking merely for "a place to crash at night" (like we did), it's suitable. Walking distance to a number of fast food joints. For the price, I'd consider staying again (again, merely as a place to crash - not somewhere I'd take someone else to impress them or anything). Wireless internet works good.

This hotel was close to where we were going. The shower handles came off but the water was warm. The sink's spout needed fixing and the water kind of squirted everywhere. The beds were not comfortable at all; they were hollow and you basically sank. The continental breakfast was okay. The one perk of the hotel is that it had wireless internet. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you're staying more than 1-2 nights.

family vaca stop over
for just an overnight stay, fine.........didn't use the shower so not sure how that would have been. The mattress was fine......2 double beds, very small. For the price, it was perfectly fine. car full of our possesions;having it right next to hotel door/room gave me comfort than us not being able to see our car. Also, room got good and cold for a good night's sleep

I needed a hotel for one night only. You cant go wrong with the price. Room was clean and very decent looking. Staff was super friendly. There was no cold water in the sink and that would be the only negative. But for the price one cant really complain. Everythig else worked and the room even had a little fridge and microwave. Would totally stay there again.

It was close to my new family
This hotel was nice too look at but as they say looks are not to be trusted. The box spring to bed were broke. The floors were dirty. Air-conditioner knobs were not there or could not see settins.The ceilin tile was nasty from water leak.Sink water was leakin would not turn off. They did not have breakfast as advertised nor did they turn on coffee machine. Only good thing, was the location but I will not stay there again next time I will look at the reviews no matter how old they are. Bad rating Im not stayin THANKS
