The goal is to provide unique and memorable accommodations that are a step up from what you would find at major hotel chains like Hilton, Hyatt or Marriott. The basement apartment has a private entrance. As found in many hotels, the living room and bedroom are combined. It features Mid-Century Modern furnishings. A remote controls the whisper quiet air conditioning/heating unit that is separate from the rest of the house. You'll sleep soundly in the queen sized bed that has luxurious Sateen sheets. The kitchenette includes sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes and flatware. A private modern bath features an Industrial Chic design. You'll have access to secure fast WiFi. Street parking is available. A unique key code will be issued prior to check in. The apartment is located in the Sunnymede neighborhood, one block south of historic Wayne St. (where Knute Rockne lived!). It's 1.5 miles to downtown, and near many good restaurants and entertainment venues. It's walkable (but a long walk, 2.1 miles, 47 minutes) to Notre Dame but most guests take Uber or drive. It's located in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It's hard to see all of what Notre Dame and South Bend has to offer in two short days. Steve’s property is ideally located for a Notre Dame football weekend. The basement apartment was very clean with a unique retro decor. Attention to detail was great. Steve provided coffee, creamers, fresh fruit, various toiletry items, and even hand warmers to keep us warm during the frigid November weather. There was plenty of hot water, a large shower, and comfortable bed with a variety of pillow types to choose from. Overall a great stay. The apartment is roomy and well appointed, with a great mid-century theme. The little extras throughout the apartment were really phenomenal: water and seltzer in the fridge, fresh fruit in the kitchen, the fullest complement of toiletries I’ve seen, and truly all the comforts of home. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. It was conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood a little over a mile from campus. Steve was quick to respond and even offered things such as a cooler for tailgating. He had stocked the kitchenette and bathroom with snacks, waters, and a wide range of bathroom products you may forget. Perfect for a party of 2\. I have travelled all over the world for business and stayed at many hotels and a few VRBOs. From the private, easily accessible entrance, to the spacious and clean setting, and the updated features, this is an exceptional place to stay for any event in South Bend. No detail was overlooked; abundance of toiletries if you forgot anything, snacks, drinks and fruit stocked in the kitchen, detailed game information and hot tips from a local, made me feel right at home. Not easily walkable to the stadium, but downtown is totally accessible on foot through quiet neighborhoods and only crossing one major street. A little "off campus" but this was a plus as it was safe, quiet and homey. We loved the decor; very stylish and very retro. Steve was an awesome host and had his place in top condition. There were directions about how to obtain parking for the football game even. Also he is in a great location.
