The property location is perfect. We could hop on any walking trail - just through the back yard. We enjoyed the pot holes & witnessed salmon spawning just up the road. Getting to ‘town’ seemed just around the corner! (Vehicle is required- not walking distance to everything) The hosts were helpful & responded quickly. The unit is very nice and the property is lovely. The unit was nicely decorated, well stocked, and charming. The only issue we had is that we booked through Expedia (because it priced in USDs vs CADs, but we never received check-in details, including unit # and access information. We arrived fairly late and were in a bit of a panic as we had expected to receive a check-in email while en route providing either key code or lockbox code and the specific unit number. We didn't. Fortunately the host was on site and called us back within a few minutes. She said that had we booked directly through VRBO we would have received check-in information, but since we booked through Expedia there was no such email provided. The guesthouse was perfect for our needs. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and there's a lovely skylight in the bathroom. While in the area, we did the Peden Lakes Trail in Sooke Potholes Park and spent a number of hours at Butchart Gardens, a true Canadian national treasure if ever there was one. Pizza at Stoked Wood Fired Pizzeria is wonderful and breakfast at Shirley Delicious is outstanding. We'd love to come back some day. ##### Garry K. Quiet, comfortable and clean - falling asleep to crickets every night and listening to the Ravens as we wake. Our hosts were very friendly and attentive. Deer visiting in the early A.M. and nothing but beautiful green trees all around to look at in this tranquil setting. The Galloping Goose trail just outside the back yard is a cyclist's paradise - wide, flat and no hills but lots of nature on your adventures. Highly recommend! ##### steven w. Two old Ladies who used to cycle on the Galloping Goose spent two very comfortable days at Laura's apartment. This was ideal from our point of view with fully appointed kitchen, very comfortable beds, and lovely view of the garden at the end of which was the trail. It is close to downtown Sooke, which has a good grocery store and restaurants. The building itself has solar panels which serve the electrical needs of the apartment.. The perpetually backed-up traffic into town was a bit of an annoying and unforeseen problem. I liked the booklet the host left for us - appreciated the local tips on food and outings. Also appreciated the playpen and lots of extra blankets. (A high chair would’ve been awesome!) But while one of the queen beds was super comfy, the other definitely was not. Also had ongoing issues with the tv while we were trying to play music. The bbq was a bit out of the way and we didn’t have utensils. But overall a very enjoyable stay. ##### Jordi S. Love the 2 separate very comfy bedrooms, windows everywhere providing lots of light and screens so they can be opened, air conditioning, full kitchen, perfect indoor socializing area (great for board games), beautiful wood and other detailing, deck, privacy, quiet, green space all around (it’s the owners yard).
