This apartment is located in the heart of downtown Sitka adjacent to St. Michael's Cathedral within walking distance of everything you need; restaurants, shopping, bars, harbors, grocery store, library, hiking trails and Sitka Fine Arts Campus. Across the street visit the Sitka Library or Harrigan Centennial Hall where you can watch the Russian Dancers perform during the summer months, visit the Sitka Historical Museum or attend a performance of the Summer Music Festival. The apartment is located on the second level of a downtown commercial/residential building. The main floor has a coffee frozen yogurt bar, a consignment store and on the lowest level a Mexican American Restaurant and a Food Co-op. The second level is a combination of long term residential apartments and vacation rentals. The building is locked in the evening and accessed with a pass key. The building has an elevator for tenants and guests only and the elevator key is provided after check in. The building has 2 entries and will be locked in the evenings. The apartment is located on the second level so stairs will be necessary to access the apartment when checking in. An elevator key is provided after check in. Guests have an access key to use on the main entrance on Lincoln St. when the building is locked. The apartment has everything you need to be comfortable and feel at home. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal, just bring the food. We provide basic spices, coffee and tea. The apartment has captivating views of the surrounding mountains, ocean and Crescent Harbor. There is a smart tv for you to add your favorite streaming app. And if you need it, wireless internet is available. It has a well stocked kitchen and full-size refrigerator-freezer. It is on the second floor of a multi use commercial building with restaurants in the basement. Fortunately, there is a good view and an elevator. The smell of pizza is constant in the hallways, but doesn’t invade the unit. The pizza downstairs is good by the way. The main drawback for us was the lack of HVAC or ventilation. There is one small window in the living room, and a fan in each bedroom, one of which rattles badly. There is baseboard heat in the living room, and one small space heater in the main bedroom. For us, there in middle May, we had the window open even when it was 45 at night, and still had to have the fans to move air to sleep comfortably. In the summer it may be challenging to sleep cool. Other than that, it’s a great place to experience the Sitka village lifestyle. ##### Brian B. We didn't rent a car and didn't need one. The property is very central. We did a cab from the airport. After being here a while, we discovered that Uber and Lyft serve the community. The unit is on the second floor. The day we arrived it was warm for Sitka, or at least we were told. The temperature was 68 and it didn't cool off that much at night so the second floor unit was a little warm.
