    4/5 Good

We were told ahead of time that it is a rustic lodge so we did not know what to expect. My whole family LOVED this location. Yes it is rustic and you do have to share bathroom/showers, but it was perfect for what we needed. My kids that are 9 and 12 years old thought it was a great adventure. Starting and ending at the NE gate of Yellowstone was great too since we had to go through Lamar Valley at the "golden hour".

This place has been the worst place we had ever stayed at! It really marked our vacations. We had to go to a little market store to check in and get our key. Had we arrived late we would of find our keys in an envelope... There was no elevators and rooms are on the second floor where the stairs are very steep up. No A/C and no ceiling fans, no wi-fi, tv, with windows that are unabled to open. Very dirty rooms. I thought for a night we were in a third world country, where you have to go out of your room in the middle of the night to walk down a hall to use a bathroom, which by the way there was only 2 for all the rooms, one on each side approx 18 rooms. The noise outside our room pass midnight by people getting drunk... I guess this was a way to forget about the horrible place they were staying at. NEVER AGAIN!! Not to mención that breakfast was not included! And finally the fact that even though we made a reservation that had free cancellation, they charged our credit card right away! That was UNACEPTABLE.

This is not your average lodging. This historic building is like going to a rustic camp as a kid - without the noise or chaos of the camp kids. Beautiful old rustic building. Restrooms down the hall. Very clean. Perfect for the location. Good beds and linens. This was my grandson's favorite place. Breakfast at the cafe across the street was excellent too.
