The room however had no air circulation, and even with the windows open all day and night, it was still way hotter inside than outside, and the air was just bad. The location is Ok, plenty of other hotels in the same area. Short walking distance to the night market, various shops and places to eat. You will have to take a taxi/Rickshaw to the Angkor Wat, but you will have to do that regardless of where you stay in the city. It was Very cheap, and I don't regret staying there, allthough the room could have been a bit better. The Garden House Guesthouse, which has no garden, is a very basic roof-over-your-head joint. It's the kind of hotel where the sheets and towels are clean, but not much else is. My bathroom had its share of mildew and the water went out one afternoon during my stay for a couple of hours. My room had a dirty refrigerator that wasn't working. It's got decent WiFi and there's complimentary bottled water left each day by housekeeping. It's basic, but secure. It's also very inexpensive, so you get what you pay for. And for what little I paid, for a private room with an en suite it was tolerable. It's a family-run affair, and those people are kind and interesting to talk with. The owners are of an age that tells you they made it through the Khmer Rouge madness and were able to build a successful little business for themselves after the country opened to the outside world in the 1990s.
