Great hotel, facilities and staff. The local Area was a business district so not great for families, but the free city centre shuttle bus was excellent.

Lovely old hotel with spacious rooms, good breakfast. Access by car is limited because of Medieval streets and one way system. We walked parking at Frankwell near the theatre £6.40 for 24 hours. Overnight is free. Hotel has carpark but even more Medieval streets to drive down.

The overall style of the hotel was lovely. Old fashioned, but in fitting with the style of the property. My room was quite noisy from the beer garden of the pub next door. This went on quite late and then loud music came on at 7am on the Sunday morning, all be it briefly). The staff in the hotel were very polite and professional! Very welcoming! I would stay here again, but maybe ask for a quieter room!

Originally booked a twin room as the picture showed a room with a double and a single bed. Had to upgrade at an extra cost for what can only be described as a large single bed. Was told parking was free over the phone, wife was then charged £10 while I parked the car. Threadbare carpet in the room and mould growing on the bathroom ceiling. Bed very hard and floor so uneven you can't sit up in bed because the bed instantly rolled away from the wall. Room had not been cleaned prior to our arrival as previous guests clothing was still in the wardrobe. I wrote "clean me" in the dust on the top shelf. Breakfast was abysmal, sausages full of gristle, dried up wrinkly mushrooms and I'm certain scrambled eggs shouldn't be grey. Overpriced and underwhelming. We would have mentioned this when checking out but the receptionist on duty blanked us.

Welcoming and traditional (in the best sense of the word). Look forward to staying here when I need somewhere in Shrewsbury. Rooms are comfortable, nice toiletries etc. Glass of sherry on arrival is a nice touch.

We loved the character of the building & the staff were very friendly. The sherry on arrival was a lovely touch, made us feel special, like stepping back in time to a more genteel age

The parking is confusing to get to. The room was ok but the air was very dry and it gave me an uncomfortable night sleep, and a nosebleed. Breakfast was fine, and the position is excellent

Its excellent location and good breakfast were somewhat offset by the noise (from the pub next door and the employer staying near my room) and the below standard cleaning. The bathtub did not seem to have been cleaned at all--I found a hair on the bathtub on the first day of my stay and it remained in the same place for 3 days and the inside of the bathtub felt needing scrubbing all the time.

Tired dingy room, walls paper thin
Friendly staff but single room smelt of old tobacco and needs updating and redecorating to justify the price. I preferred a chain hotel I stayed in nights before, with larger rooms and modern fresh decor. Could hear couple nearby and noise from pub outside. One of the lamps in my room had no lightbulb.

Everything about the stay was lovely. the hotel has lots of character and lovely helpful staff. The only reason I've taken off a star was because the shower head was too droopy to shower under as the water kept getting aimed away!

Brilliant! I always stay at the Prince Rupert Hotel when I visit Shrewsbury. Lovely reception rooms spotlessly clean and a Mega breakfast, they even provided gluten-free toast for me.

We love the Prince Rupert Hotel with its olde world charm it’s in a great location with easy access to all amenities. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the welcome glass of sherry is always appreciated especially on cold winter days!

Lovely, friendly old school hotel with character.
Second trip to this lovely hotel. Located in a great position. Friendly and professional staff. For example a Christmas party had been going on all day when we returned to hotel in the evening and the hotel staff made sure we were ok amongst the very rowdy and very drunk party goers. Sadly we had our evening meal cancelled in the hotel the night before due to the chef having to prepare for this party and wasn’t informed until 6pm (due to eat at 7pm)?? The reception staff were very apologetic and managed to book us a table at a near by restaurant. Comfy beds and newly refurbished bathrooms. Some dated furniture in the room and the hairdryer was just a travel one so took a while to use. Convenient parking a short walk away but also only a 5 min walk from the train station.

Very fashioned hotel in centre of historic Shrewsbury. Leather chairs wood panelling. But bring you ear plugs some rooms face a lively pub called the Libertine.

It was a pleasant stay with amazing staff. Only complaint was a few hairs in the tub when we arrived and the breakfast portions were quite small. But other than that it was lovely and i do plan on coming again. I know everyone here does their best.
