"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was pretty, overlooking a lovely garden. Only one problem, there was a leak in the en suite. Staff brilliant as was the food. Wd definitely come again. "

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Golden Lion . We had our own car parking space . The breakfast was outstanding . Very hot plenty of it and delicious. The only downside was they didn’t do meals in the evening. But they are ready to recommend places that do great meals ie The Old Castle. We would definitely stay there again."

"The room I had was a bit strange, very little space in the bedroom, but a large bathroom - strangely with a tiny shower cubicle. Still, the staff were friendly and the bed comfortable. I was staying here for business, so only serving breakfast from 8.30 on a weekday meant that I wasn't able to take advantage of the included breakfast. I heard one other guest with the same issue whilst I was there - maybe worth a rethink?"

"Lovely place to stay the night before our trip to Alton towers. Spotlessly clean, comfortable room. The hosts were so lovely and friendly. Breakfast was absolutely superb, especially the fresh eggs straight from their own chickens! We also had a little wonder around the garden and the whole place is so tidy and well cared for, it’s a pleasure to spend time there. We will definitely stay again. Very reasonable price too, great value for money. "

"The White House was easy to find, with parking outside. Our hosts were lovely, genial and very welcoming. Our ensuite room was warm, comfortable and homely. The complimentary welcome tray was the best I've ever seen with lovely homemade cake (huge slices!) 2 small bottles of wine and 2 bottles of water. The beds were in the firm category which suited my husband more than me. Our room was at the back of the house and was very peaceful at night time and the village seemed quiet the next...

"Met up with a friend at this delightful guest house. Louise is an excellent host and was very informative about the area and where to visit. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful and set us up for the day. Room was clean and well presented and Louise thoughtfully gave us an extra heater as it was a chilly day. Can highly recommend."

"A bit of dust around in places but generally very good. Outside, the garden etc looked a bit drab and there was no signage at the front of the property, Difficult to find."

Welcome texts before I arrived was a lovely touch, plenty of local information for those staying on holiday and a very personal service all round. Room wasn’t the most modern but very comfortable and quiet - I had a great sleep! It made a lovely change to stay in a family run B&B whilst away with work rather than the somewhat soulless hotel chain 😊"

"Over all a nice place to stay.. i did message the provider with some concerns which they have not responded to (such is life) place could have done with a good clean and a visit from maintenance. my stay wasnt expensive so id say defo value for money .. however value for money an unclen property is never acceptable. "We was meant to stay here I booked a room with double & 2 singles, when I got the confirmation it stated 1 double 1 sofa bed the property made the mistake, after calling hotels.com to try to resolve I got nowhere, so I had no choice but to book another property. After booking another property I then get a call from this property saying they made a mistake. Hotels.com wouldn’t refund me. So I asked the property to refund me which was short by £20 odd pounds. So overall not a good experience "
