There are more than a hundred restaurants and other shops in the 5-6 streets around the hotel. It’s unbelievably affordable – the cheapest I could find on Expedia in ShenZhen! The famous shopping area for electronics (HuaQiangBei) is within walking distance (<2km). The food stalls – the majority of them are the so-call ChaoShan cuisine – are open from early evening to the small hours in the morning every day. So its location is both a blessing and a curse. If you value its vicinity to the lively food streets, this is the place to be. But if you value a good night’s sleep, forget it! There are at least two restaurants inside the same building, and the building is old and not sound-proof by any modern standard (e.g., you could hear your neighbours peeing at night, the window is big and single-glazed), noise-wise sleeping in the room is not much different from sleeping on the street. And the noise only starts to die down after 4 or 5am. Would I stay with them next time?
