It’s named after our beloved dog, Porter, and offers a simple, affordable way to test your off-grid living skills while still enjoying a few comforts. The yurt has electricity, a mini fridge, a space heater, and a fan to keep you comfortable in any season. Please note: there is no running water inside the yurt. Showers are available downtown at the harbor and local campgrounds, about a 5–10 minute drive away. The bathroom is a very rustic outhouse with a curtain, adding to the back-to-basics charm. Outside, you’ll find a fire pit (available when no burn ban is in effect) and a picnic table for relaxing outdoors. Because the yurt is located on the same property as my home, you may see children’s toys in the yard, our friendly border collie, and my six-year-old playing nearby. Her dog Ducky was super sweet too, we also enjoyed him when he gave us a short visit.The yurt was cute and comfortable. It had a hot plate inside with a pot and pan if we wanted to cook. We utilized the fire pit for our meals and enjoyed our short trip there. It’s a beautiful property, there are trees and birds singing all around.
