Great location and property, but please take note...
We spent a week at this property and for the most part, it was a fantastic choice for my crew: 3 guys and 3 girls looking for a fun retreat in the mountains. Below is our groups' pros/cons list for the property.
The pros:
-Great location just minutes away from The Island and several other popular attractions. We felt we could easily come and go to the house when we needed to and rarely stayed out all day long.
-Quick, easy access to grocery/convenience/fast food establishments in the Wears Valley Rd area.
-Plenty of space for the 6 of us--though it would've been tight if our whole 10 person group had come.
-Well-outfitted kitchen space that we utilized often for breakfast/dinner.
-Roku TVs-we streamed movies in our downtime between activities in the main room and the girls all used their TVs in the loft area/main suite.
-Gorgeous views from the main living area/deck area. I was never disappointed first thing in the morning.
-Thoughtful touches like the snacks/coffee provided on the coffee bar.
-Well maintained property overall.
The cons:
-The driveway is tricky, as most are in the area. We had a truck and two small SUVs on property and it always took some difficult maneuvering to get out of the inclined "garage" spot.
-The beds in the first floor space (doubles and bunks) were very hard, according to my guys. I'm sure these beds would be fine for kids, but I had 30+ year old men sleeping in these beds and they definitely had some trouble.
-The space that has the cubby-style beds *is* a loft. The photos don't demonstrate this very well--though it is mentioned in the description. The girls that slept in the loft were disappointed by the lack of privacy. (Upside: curtains have been installed in the cubbies for blocking the sun. These are not pictured in the property listing.)
-The sun rises in full view of the floor to ceiling windows, which is beautiful, but blinding by mid-morning.
-The main suite bathroom shower stall is not roomy at all. There was very little give in the showerhead adjustment either.
-Very little soundproofing. We could hear pretty much any movement from anywhere in the house, including the very noisy loft stairs. Not good for light sleepers.
Our pros/cons are more FYI for other consumers. Most "cons" are things that cannot be remedied easily and we understand most are restrictions on the property itself. This is a great space for families with kids!
