Enjoy the expansive view of the Smoky Mountains from either of the two full-length wrap-around decks. Enjoy the two-person swing with a cup of morning coffee, or a glass of wine, while you listen to the birds, or hear the Dollywood train whistle blow, and watch the sun set or rise. Bedrooms are located on each of the three levels allowing privacy. The two great gathering spaces; one at the main level and a game room at the lower level allow your group to have space to enjoy conversations and fun together. Enjoy a meal on the deck with friends and family or have a soak in the hot tub after a day of exploring and watch the sun set over the mountains. Only 10+ minutes to Dollywood! WE CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS AMAZING VIEW!! (check our reviews! :)!) We want you to have a fantastic experience during your trip to the Smoky Mountains! Rest easy knowing the cabin has been thoroughly cleaned and is well-maintained. We are here to answer any questions and hope you come back again and again. The entry-level has a spacious den, a well-equipped kitchen, and a dining area with a round table that seats 6 comfortably, with the adjacent counter seating 2 additional people. The soaring ceiling floods the space with light and draws you into that classic Smoky Mountain view that constantly changes with the sun's angle and weather. Watch the big game, live TV, free movies, or any of your favorite paid apps on the 55" smart TV. This space also has a comfortable sleeper sofa. The adjoining deck has a dining table that seats 6 comfortably, with plenty of additional seating outside, including a porch swing and 2 rockers. Or soak in the hot tub and enjoy the view! Bedrooms: 3 tastefully decorated bedrooms, one on each level. The upstairs master suite includes a romantic 2 person Jacuzzi (with a Smoky Mountain view!) & a custom built king size log bed, a 43" smart TV, and a mini-split unit to meet your temperature needs. The main floor has a queen size log bed, 43" smart TV and a full bath accessed across the hall. The lower floor also has a comfortable log king bed, 43" smart TV, and direct access to the bathroom with the oversized shower stall with seat, toilet, and sink. The Game Room has plenty of things to entertain you and your group including a pool table, multi-cade stand-up arcade, a two-person sit-down multi-cade, game table, sleeper sofa, books, family games, mini fridge, and a 55" smart TV. This level also has access to the lower level wrap-around deck with Adirondack rockers for enjoying the amazing view. This space accesses the full bathroom as well. A stackable washer and dryer is located off of the game room. As great as the cabin is though, it is the VIEW that will captivate you! Distances: The Island, Pigeon Forge - 5.6 miles Dollywood - 6 miles (close enough to hear the train and fireworks at night!) - 11 minutes Gatlinburg - 10.7 miles Great Smoky Mountains - Sugarland's Visitor's Center - 13.7 miles Food City - 3.3 miles Wal-Mart - 8.4 miles FAQ's: 1\. What items are supplied? All linens are supplied. Please bring your own beach-type towels for the hot tub. A starter pack of items is supplied. If staying more than a couple days, you will need to bring or purchase additional dishwashing and laundry soaps, trash bags, toilet paper, and toiletries. Coffee and spices and oils are not supplied. 2\. What does your kitchen have? We have a Keurig Duo coffee maker (drip and keurig), toaster, range, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, blender, cookie sheets, muffin pan, crock pot, hand mixer, and microwave. Kitchen utensils are supplied too to help make your favorite meals. 3\. Wifi? Cable TV? Yes, with speeds typically above 200 Mbps/sec (which is better and more reliable than many areas around the Smokies). And the cabin has a subscription to YoutubeTV app which offers 70+ channels of live TV, local channels, sports, movies and much more. You can also sign in to your favorite apps. Power and service outages are rare but do occur. There will be no refunds due to interruption of power or internet service. 4\. Does the cabin supply baby gear? No, no baby gear is located onsite, but you are welcome to contact a baby gear rental agency that can handle and deliver rentals for you to the cabin. The cabin is not "baby-proofed". 5\. The refund policy posted in VRBO will be followed. No exceptions. It is recommended that you purchase trip insurance to protect yourself from unforeseen circumstances. 6\. How far is your cabin to the grocery? Food City is located 3.3 miles from the cabin. There are also multiple grocery delivery services (and food delivery too) that can deliver to the cabin. 7\. What are the roads like to access the cabin? Above the Mist is located on a fully paved single lane, two-way neighborhood loop road located off of a major road. It has several other cabins on it, but is not heavily traveled. It has some steep areas but nothing that slow speed and alertness won't conquer, but it's not for everybody - some folks may find it intimidating. Most say once they have driven it a couple times it is just fine. It is, after all, "Above the Mist"! For the majority of the year normal cars have no trouble with the roads; sporadically in some winter weather all-wheel drive vehicles may fare better - the road is treated and plowed if necessary during winter weather. No refunds will be given for inability of personal vehicles to access the cabin. Please plan accordingly. 8\. Wildlife, What could I see while at your cabin? Above the Mist is located in the Smoky Mountain Forest area. Black bears and other wildlife are common in the area and at the cabin. They are a treat to observe and will typically keep their distance from humans. Bears must not be approached - for your and their safety. 9\. Pests or Bugs? This is a cabin in the mountains and is treated monthly for pests but despite all efforts they still find their way in, especially if doors are left open and especially at night with lights on. These include stinkbugs, ladybugs, occasional millipedes, etc. No refunds will be given due to pests. Please keep doors and windows closed as much as possible to prevent their access. 10\. Pets; "I know that the listing says "No Pets", but mine is practically human, can I bring it?" Pets are not allowed, no exceptions. The homeowners love their pets too so we get it, but we and other guests have allergies to certain pets. There are numerous listings that allow pets, please seek out one that allows them. If it is found that a pet has been brought on site, your agreement can be terminated, you can be charged an additional cleaning/damages fee, and you and your party can be asked to leave without a refund. 11\. Reservations are complete and confirmed once the rental agreement is signed and returned. 12\. Smoking? This is a no smoking (of any kind) property. 13\. How many does the hot tub seat? It seats 4 comfortably. 14\. Can I check in early before 4pm or check out late after 10am? We cannot accommodate early check-in or late check-outs. Our cleaning crew works hard and needs the full amount of time to be sure that the cabin is ready for you and others. (There may be some rare times when it may be a bit after 4:00pm). A late checkout fee of $100 will be added if you and your guests have not departed by 10am. Thank you for your understanding. 15\. How many cars can park at the property? 3 regular size cars can fit in the driveway end-to-end, and there's additional parking just before the driveway across the street which is best for suvs since those spots are only partially paved. 16\. Is the cabin secluded? Yes and no - the neighbors aren't very close - you may hear distant laughter at night or in the morning from their porches and the occasional car may pass on the street. It's generally very quiet and peaceful and you don't really notice the adjacent cabins unless you try to see them, especially when the trees are full. At night you feel like you're miles from civilization - no lights or sounds from nearby towns or roads. But, at the same time, you are only minutes from so many stores, restaurants and attractions - best of both worlds! 17\. As much as we would love for you to find everything in the cabin to be just as you see it in the photos, we realize that things occasionally need repair over time. No refunds are given for amenities that are different than shown / listed. 18\. Is there a grill? a large propane grill. (We used to have a charcoal grill too but it had to be removed due to codes with its proximity of the cabin). 19\. Please note, there is a security camera onsite at entry. Did we mention the VIEW?! Everything is clean and the view is the best. The driveway is easy to get into and out of and the road up the mountain is moderate compared to others. The cabin was clean and well maintained, there was excellent communication between the host, and the view and every little detail in between was perfect. The pictures on the website are amazing, but seeing the views in person is simply stunning. Very comfortable and fun space for couples or families looking to unplug and relax. Dinner or coffee on the deck has a real ambience to it. Short, scenic drive to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. The hosts stayed in communication before and during the visit. The warnings about bears are real, we had a fairly close encounter, but the property and decks are protected well and we felt safe. We would love to visit again someday. 10/10! ##### Scott G. The two decks were amazing and it literally felt like we were the only house around no matter the time of day or night. Rob was always quick to reply/answer questions from initial booking to the end of the stay and there were no major issues that needed addressing.Not being used to hill/mountain driving, either approach to the house (road is basically a loop) was nerve-wracking the first couple days, but we quickly adjusted and learned to take it slow, watching out for other vehicles coming the other way, etc. After the learning curve, it was absolutely worth it for the view and solitude.I highly recommend this house and Rob as a host. The house was very comfortable for our family of five. The location is also perfect. We spent one day at Dollywood and one day in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and both were short drives. We've rented cabins in the Pigeon Forge area in the past and this one blew the others away. Our favorite thing to do was enjoy our morning coffee on the deck taking in the view. Stayed at this cabin for 3 nights with a family of 9\. The view is absolutely amazing! The location is great, just a few miles outside of the main pigeon forge area, but very secluded. The cabin is very spacious and has lots to do (games, hot tub, arcade, TVs etc). I would like to call out the service from our hosts! The first morning we got up and the keurig wasn’t working. No big deal, we went and coffee at a nearby Starbucks. I messaged our hosts just to let them know that it wasn’t working. They sent a brand new one from Instacart the same day! On top of that they communicated every step of the way to make sure we’d have someone there to get it. That is above and beyond customer service! Over all the cabin was great, if I had to pick a “con” I’d say that sound carries a fair bit inside the cabin. The views are breathtaking. All we wanted to do was sit on the balcony and stare off into the distance. The cabin is close to town so very convenient to Pigeon Forge activities and just a brief drive to Gatlinburg as well. Everyone in our group was satisfied with amenities and bed comfort. Cabin was clean and well kept. We cooked a few times and the kitchen pots/pans/dishes/utensils were sufficient but I’d suggest updating the cookie sheets. If you want to exercise just walk up and down the road leading to the cabin. It’s steep and a lung burner for sure. The pool table and arcade games were great fun and the hot tub was a great way to relax after a long day of activity away from the cabin. We had a great stay and were sad to have to leave.
