"All that a really good african experience should be. Lovely ambience from stunning beach views with palm lined sands and plenty of grass covered canapied umbrellas. The pool was crystal clean everyday and the food in the beach restaurant was amazing quality at really good prices. The breakfast was of high standard with plenty of choice everyday. There was different entertainment every night from african dancers and authentic drum players,to bands playing regiee music. The staff warmth and customer service was the best I have encountered in the 15 years I have been visiting the Gambia. Altogether a fantastic holiday experience "

"Nice basic accommodation in a great location. Rooms are comfortable and clean but no frills. Pool area is nice, the bar next to it is good for cheap beer and snacks. Restaurant on-site is pretty good. Air conditioning costs extra but I think it's reasonable (plus it cools off enough at night to where it's not necessary, especially for downstairs rooms). It's close to the main beaches and nightlife in Kololi and Senegambia, and getting a quick taxi to them is easy. If you're looking to hang out and relax by the pool, go to the beach, and go out at night to the restaurants and bars, Baobab Holiday Resort is a good choice."

"On the beach, great food and beer, lovely staff. Very green and welcoming. Very spacious bathroom and luxurious. Clean like Switzerland and efficient as Germany, warm as Thailand and relaxed as African beach. "

"Officially the Kairaba is still rated as a 5* hotel, the only one as far as we know in Gambia. And this is still visible with respect to the quality of the room furniture and the installation and the way the staff deals with wishes (addressed at the reception) or problems (e.g. a problem with water leakage in the toilet got immediately fixed by an experienced craftsmen after we told the room service about it and she had called her colleague). However, the hotel has been closed for 3 years due to Corona and the owner now plans to sell it. That's why they did not do a lot of promotion and had very few guests (<20? certainly not more than 50). And this had influence on the services, which were adapted (small breakfast buffet, reduces choice). Only the prices for drinks at the pool bar stayed at the original 5*-level"

"Check-in was fast and smooth. When we entered the room, we noticed our teenager did not have a bed. Housekeeping brought a foldout bed. The room had an infestation of some of the biggest ants we've seen. When I alerted housekeeping, they informed me it was rainy season, hence excessive bugs. We met the operations manager in the dining area and told her about my room. She sent housekeeping with a bug spay, and they were ordered to leave it in the room with us. We were given one towel for three people. When I requested more towels, housekeeping gave us towels that had brown stains on them. When we said something, she said, "It's just a little stain." I kindly asked that she find two that weren't stained. The food at the restaurant was exceptional. In fact, the restaurant staff was awesome. However, the property has a pregnant cat that walks around and sits close while you're eating. This wouldn't be a problem if one of my family members didn't have a cat allergy. Lastly, if you are traveling with small children, be aware that the pool does not have a lifeguard. My husband had to perform CPR on a small child who got into difficulties in the pool. Thankfully, we got word that the child was going to be okay. When we checked out, the receptionist manager thanked my husband for saving the child's life. I think it would be helpful if all staff that works around the pool are effectively trained to perform CPR. Overall, our stay was just okay."
