The Ciel Hotel is a gorgeous hotel in downtown Seoul. It is close to rail access and bus access making Ciel very efficient for backpackers and those who bother to take metro transit everywhere. My Room was spacious and kept very clean. The bathroom was so immaculate that I am actually considering having my bathroom at home designed similarly. UNFORTUNATELY, there were a number of disappointments that stood out in my mind which I had to write about here. #1 I SPECIFICALLY picked this hotel for the POOL access. THE POOL WAS CLOSED DURING MY ENTIRE STAY. It's a small pool on the rooftop floor and despite the heatwave, I couldn't use it at all. I feel that I should recieve some refund for that honestly. #2 The staff doesn't speak basic conversational English. This is the norm around most of Seoul and it's annoying because just about everyone else speaks English: The Chinese, Phillipinos, Japanese... Most international travelers who might come here... If you don't speak or read Korean you will have some difficulty. The room amenities: Windows 7 computer and television are also in Korean. #3 There is no LAUNDRY SERVICE. Not only was there no service offered by the hotel for dirty clothes, there was no laundromat nearby. The Hotel definitely should make a partnership with a nearby laundromat. In fairness: one of the staff let me use the washing machine they use for hotel towels - but I couldn't use the dryer. I had to wait till I got home to clean them.
