Our friendly hosts met us at the local marina and showed us the free mainland parking and mooring spots for our hired car and boat. They then showed us where the cottage was on Playfair Island and gave us a helpful tour of the cottage and grounds. They left us a lovely basket of essentials and treats. Everything in the cottage works very well including excellent wifi and streamed TV. The wildlife was a surprise. Busy little red squirrels would occasionally run under our feet as we sat on the balcony. Humming birds would hover close as if to check who we were. Wild turkeys wandered around the grounds and roosted in the nearby trees. Chipmunks and Mink would be met occasionally. Every morning a Loon would be parked 30 metres off the dock and some mornings she'd bring her mate. The cottage balcony faces east with an extraordinary view and is sunny from very early morning. The large dock with plenty of chairs faces south west and is sunny from mid morning until dusk. There's good grocery shopping in nearby Mactier. We used the paddle boards, kayak and sailing boat every day. A really great holiday. ##### Tim B.
